Yeah, with any new technology cost will keep it down for a few years.

Just like dedicated e-readers have. Event at $200-300 with recent price drops, it's a bit much for many people who aren't super avid readers. Several of my friends and colleagues like e-readers but won't pay that much.

And/or are waiting for something good for their academic work as they don't want a separate e-reader for leisure reading.

Price could have less effect on these type of business focused e-readers though since they can be sold to businesses, bought with expense accounts etc.
