The 505 & 700 mount as a drive under Windows. The 500 does not. So the 500 needs a USB driver to be able to access it. The driver from Sony & Calibre are 32-bit only and will not work on a 64-bit Windows. Calibre & eBook Library do work on a 64-bit Windows if you are using a 505 or a 700.

Hey everyone,
Not sure if this is old news but, by turning off unsigned driver enforcement, I am able to use the driver for my PRS-500 on my windows vista ultimate laptop (64-bit OS). Calibre recognizes my 500 just fine this way. |
