So has there been some delay in the upgrade? Does anyone know where the original announcement from Ectaco is? Or was this just a joke (I hope not)?

These are the two sites I've seen for downloading new firmware.
ftp://custftp:FQSswyvGQ20So@ftp.ectaco.com/ http://www.jetbook.net/upgrade.php As of 10PM PST April 2nd. The new firmwares or updates for the ECTACO Jetbook have not been posted, unless there is some other location to find them. Yet still ... I wait in anticipation. |

I asked about the update over at Ectaco's forum and this is the reply I got:
Dear Sir / Madam, Yes, we are going to release an update with the new format support for jetBook in the near future. As soon as it becomes available, we will publish it and notify all jetBook users. Best regards, Val Reaves, Sales Manager, ECTACO, Inc. mailto:sales@ectaco.com http://www.ectaco.com So I guess that's that. It was nice anticipating the update and being able to read more formats on my Jetbook. Hopefully we won't have to wait long. Ellen |

highlights and annotation
Some questions here that I don't think I came across reading the forum:
1) Does Jetbook give you the ability to highlight and annotate files? If so, can you do either in unlimited fashion, or does it restrict you to a certain number of time that you can do it? 2) bookmarking in Jetbook -- can you do unlimited number of times as well, or is it restricted to a certain number of times, too? 3) Files that you have annotated or highlighted in Jetbook -- will these show up and appear when you open the file in your PC? I think these are the features that I needed most before I buy Jetbook. Thanks for any input. |

Their reference to "near future" could be any time. You can sign up for the news letter here: http://www.ectaco.com/news/ They will announce when they will next be announcing the firmware then. Or maybe they are trying to build anticipation. Which is okay with me ... just something else to look forward too. |

1) No. 2) Bookmark as many times as you like. 3) No. Here is where you can find the manual: http://www.ectaco.com/products/mater...UM_Eng_web.pdf It's not the most informative manual. |

That's a beta version; is there any word on when the real thing will be released?

Of course. They could just be giving us the next notch up to shut us up. What do you think? What makes you think it's a beta? It is about 7MB larger than the previous version so there is something extra wrapped inside. |

Please note: The new jetBook firmware upgrade that you are about to download is a Beta version. This is NOT the final version of the new OS and therefore Ectaco can not not guarantee an absence of errors that may disrupt jetBook operation and/or result in data loss. BOb |
