The current ROM does not save or hold the previous zoom state. This
is easily accomplished by adding this instruction set in the next flash.

I don't expect iRex to do that, and thats why I don't expect to
see them become a valid competitor. They are targeting a very
small sector and they will (at the current rate) remain a specialty
reader for the few and far between. Mass market penetration
means Co.'s sometime must make some initial sacrifices to gauge
where they want to be down the road vs. where they are now and
where they will stay. More and more readers are entering the market
especially for 2010, just how popular do you think the $900 iRex will be
when that happens? If a business model does not adjust to market
trend$, then sooner or later, they will have to eat their own demise.

agreed...that would be incredibly convenient. i also don't see a downside to adding that particular function...so, fingers crossed.

The DR is being targetted squarely at the business customer, for whom $900 is really neither here nor there. I honestly don't think that they are particularly interested in the "mass market". There's room out there for specialist suppliers as well as mass market ones.

No "urban legends" there!
If they were significantly more expensive, than 10" would be a lot more expensive than 8".

Not necessarily. If they are only being produced in small quantities for a single customer (as appears to be the case), it's probably the cost of the production process, rather than the cost of the actual item, which dominates.

Maybe. I didn't think about it in that way.
