The issue was that when you say things like "That doesn't work with ADE. So it's no good." mis-leads people into thinking that they MUST code to ADE practices. That is not true. They MUST code to the standards of their target market - and then only if they want to have a viable product...
There are A LOT of places that don't give one whit about ADE...so, If they aren't selling there, then they don't need to worry that the first code doesn't work with ADE. You tend to push people into coding for YOUR preferences/devices, rather than answering the question that they asked. |

Ah, yes, I was too simplistic. KF8 can be created from ePub but technically it is not a compatible ePub and ADE has nothing to do with this format. Read about KF8 in our wiki.

Where does KF8 come into this? The OP is working on an ePub.

If you had originally phrased it like that, then I wouldn't have had any issues with what you said. I agree that code that works on more systems is better.... but you can't say that "it is no good" simply because it doesn't work on ADE. The original code works just fine. If the OP doesn't care about ADE, then they can use the original code with no worries whatsoever. Just because YOU want it to be able to work on ADE systems doesn't mean that they do/should. If they only want to sell in the kindle garden - which LOTS of people do - then they don't need to care about ADE....

In any event my simplistic code was unintentionally incomplete; I typically have the img tag wrapped in figure tags which would be appropriately styled like the divs here. (I like using the newer tags which is why I use epub3). I had to go back and find an old css file to get the figure tag's css, in order to test it.

But why use figure when a div is compatible with more software?
