I'm like DrNefario, I enjoyed the series and it was a favorite. One of the books, I think it was the 2nd, was very slow for at least a third or half of the book but then it finally picked up and I was glad I stuck with it.

In the sense that the magic on the Isle of Roke is a lot deeper are more dangerous and integral to the world than the magic at Hogwarts, in my opinion. I enjoy Harry Potter but Earthsea feels more loke "real" magic to me, I know that probably doesn't make sense. Plus, Gebbeth.

The flip side is that I really liked the Earthsea series, but never got very far into the Left Hand of Darkness. Different strokes and all of that.
