The OP has already mentioned they don't like the weight of the cover. Skins/decals are a good, lighter weight alternative. |

I might disagree with everything else you said, but this is an excellent suggestion: I had no idea they made these for recent Kindles. One is on order now! (It's just not suitable for those times when I'm reading away from tables, so it won't, ah, cover all cases, if you'll excuse the dreadful pun.)

In the past I had to put books on my lap or on the table and be stiff sitting there. My neck and wrists could not deal with that anymore today. I could never operate paperbacks in a comfortable manner though.
OP asked about the coldness of the Oasis. I cannot put a cover on my O3 as it gets to heavy. Take a sniff of the smelling salts now JSWolf to handle that. It gets to heavy for some of us. Oh the humanity that we have different ways of reading books. Anywho. It is a wee bit cold. Thankfully for me, unlike the OP, I live in a fairly hot climate. South texas. Plus i am running a wee bit hotter these days than I used to. But, it doesn't feel super pleasant. If they made a skin covered in something like felt of fleece, that would be great. I put a love handle strap on the back. So now I can stick my fingers in it which makes it much easier to hold for me. Its just a bit big for me overall. I'd like a 6 inch Oasis with battery in. Even without a cover the O3 is almost too heavy after a while. The shape of the device is what makes it ergonomic so a cover ruins that. I don't need no stinking cover, I would just like a more fluffy back instead of the cold dead metal. |

59 F. is pretty darn COLD for me in a house. And now, after my stroke, 75 F. is cold only to my damaged left side! YIKES! Last edited by Dr. Drib; 11-28-2019 at 09:29 PM. |

15C inside would be far too cold for me too and I live in a pretty cold country. It's about 22C now in my apartment. 15C outside is fine for me.

(The Skinomi skin is shown as arriving so late I'll be away over Christmas. I guess I'll try to buy it in the new year. Argh.) |

I grew up in Bavaria during some fierce winters and never could get our place decent comfy. No running warm water either. Cold showers in the morning with ice on the window.
Now I live in South Texas and start shivering when I set the inside at 68F(20C) when we get a "coldfront". Here the recommendations are summer inside set at 78(26C) and winter at 68. But I want to save electricity so I turn heater off at night and just put a flannel on. Summer I can't put it much higher, way to hot here. Plus I am not of the age were I run hotter than I used to. I used to be miserable back in the day in Germany. I don't think my kindles would have worked well there. Our house was drafty, old and just cold. Unless you hunkered down right in front of the wood stove. |

For further reference: covering the back and side in sellotape works. You *really* don't need a thick layer. (Of course, this looks disgusting, about as far from a 'premium' look as could be imagined, so I'm going to replace it with a proper skin in a month or so when it turns up.)

I had to Google to find out exactly what Sellotape was. Apparently a UK brand of transparent cellophane tape. Must be the equivalent of the US Scotch tape franchise.

I personally would make a cover from a thin piece of polystyrene or stick a strip of balsa wood at the back.
