Is this something we can change, or will this be incorporated into the next update of Calibre?

Installed the new version and now the book covers are a perfect size on the Voyage! Thanks Kovid.

What computer & OS are you running it on? I installed 2.7, sent some books to Voyage, thumbnails are still small. I even reconverted some epubs to mobi and azw3, just to ensure that the too-small thumbnails aren't created upon conversion.

EDITED TO ADD: Windows 7 on a 64-bit machine. (I noticed there is a different download file for 64-bit)

I am also running Win7 64-bit. I just updated it from the last version as I've been using Calibre for a few years.

This is driving me up the wall. Two different computers (one at work, one at home), both are Windows 7 64-bit. Home version of Calibre is not 64 bit. Work is. Both are version 2.7. Both are creating 330 pixel high thumbnails. I can watch it create the thumbnails in system/thumbnails as I send the book. The portable version of Calibre 2.7 sends a larger thumbnail. So, I can use the portable version, it's no big deal, but it's just totally bugging me.

I suggest that you run calibre in debug mode (Arrow next to preferences button, select "Restart in debug mode"), connect your device, send one book, then quit calibre. A window will open containing the debug log. Post it here under a SPOILER tag (the crossed-out eye). That will at least tell us what calibre thinks it is doing.

Kovid quoted some of the code that sends the book. It looks like it checks to see what kindle it is and sends the larger thumbnail if it's a Voyage. Is there any way to see what kind of kindle Calibre thinks is attached? There is a reference to "KINDLE2" in both of the above logs.

The problem is the "Kindle 2, 3, 4, Touch, PaperWhite Device Interface Paperwhite thumbnail FIX MOD" plugin. It is overwriting calibre's cover size with "THUMBNAIL_HEIGHT = 330". The portable version doesn't have that plugin installed.

The logs above were for two different books. Just to compare apples to apples, here's the log for the Windows 7 version for the book Neverwhere, same book as I used for the portable version above. I do know to delete the thumbnail from system/thumbnails on the kindle in between each send, to make sure it's making a new thumbnail:

THANK YOU!! As I said, I could have just used the portable version, but it was like a crazy brain teaser I couldn't solve. I disabled the plug-in, restarted Calibre, and all is well!

Interestingly, I tried to fully uninstall Calibre and reinstall, to try and solve the problem, but it was still finding some setting saved because it wasn't running the start up wizard, knew where my library was, and still had the plug ins I'd installed. I looked in the user app data and deleted that, but must have been saved somewhere else.

I'm having the cover problem as well. Can anyone tell me how to add the fix to Calibre on my computer?

Thank you!

What version of calibre are you using?

You will need at least version 2.7, as stated above and on calibre: what's new...
