I just don't get these enhanced books. Cherry Adair has been re-releasing some of her books that way. I think all of this extra could be available on their website but why clutter a book that way I'll never understand. I don't know about you but I never read any of that extra stuff except for author's notes.

I don't look at it either, but apparently it's quite popular with a segment of the market.

From the sound of things she's doing it the right way though...

I have set up the book so that the additional content does not interfere with the reading experience—you can read through the entire book without looking at it once (which is what some readers will want to do!). If you’re not interested in the additional content, you don’t have to read it at all. If you are, you will be able to jump back and forth between the text and the extra content.

I was looking over Entangled's June releases that are currently $0.99, and this one:

By Jove by Marissa Doyle

caught my eye. Turns out this is a paranormal that imagines that the old Greek/Roman gods are living on earth these days pretending for the most part to be ordinary mortals. I loved this book and would definitely recommend it, especially for those of you who love Greek mythology.

The description of the book definitely doesn't do it justice.

Quote:
For Theodora Fairchild, graduate school is a dream. The professors are fighting over her, she gets to study Latin and explore her knowledge of Greek gods with others who share her passion…and she meets Grant Proctor. He's as shy as she is, and oh so handsome.

As she gives in to her feelings for the man who's stolen her heart, someone seems determined to keep them apart—no matter the consequences. There are evil forces at work, and they have plans for Theo that don’t include Grant. When Grant disappears, surviving the semester becomes the least of Theo’s worries. Her knowledge of ancient mythology may be her best weapon, and relying on her wits and wisdom may be the only thing to help her save her true love.

Until July 25th these books will be on sale for $.99 each (should be everywhere, although price drops might not be everywhere yet)...

Can't decide if I want to purchase these. I've read one book of hers and there was some sort of reference in there that was so clearly a modern reference that it turned me off to her writing. It seemed intentional, but it pulled me out of the time period the book was set in and ruined the rest of the book for me.

Is she classified as one of those 'mistorical' authors?

ETA: I've been reading Jo Beverley's Malloren books out of order as I can get them on Overdrive. Am very disappointed I can't find Devilish through either of my OD libraries. I want to read about Rothgar and Diana!

I wouldn't call her a mistorical author exactly but there's something very modern about her writing. I can't place my finger on it exactly. It doesn't have the same lyrical quality as historical authors who were popular in the 80s and 90s. Nevertheless I love her books!

Shame how one bad impression can ruin an author for me!

free @ Amazon:

What the Heart Keeps - Rosalind Laker
Quote:
The year is 1903.

Lisa Shaw is an English orphan from Leeds who is sent to Canada as a "home girl".

They were children and young people that were "exported" from Great Britain to her colonies in Australia, Canada, and South Africa to be adopted and employed as domestic help.

After a rough time in Canada, Lisa believes life is about to change for the better when she returns to England.

At the crowded docks in Liverpool her path crosses with that of the handsome Norwegian Peter Hagan.

Love blossoms but fate seems determined to keep them apart, and they are separated by a vast continent.

When they do meet again Lisa’s life is linked to another man, a pioneer in the film industry.

Lisa is forced to make a terrible choice.

Can she drop everything to be with Peter?

Or will their love become the secret that her heart keeps?

‘What the Heart Keeps’ is a poignant and moving story of one woman’s search for love.

I've read a number of her books and they were all three and four stars for me (3 is an average read). I'm not usually a fan of mistoricals, and it has been a while so I don't remember specifics about the books - so can't say about level of mistorical, but she writes well IMHO.

Oh I must have just missed the sale price on that one - will have to watch it! Thank you for pointing it out - I typically only look at their Brazen line and the synopsis sounds like something I'd totally enjoy!

Can you request it? I find my libraries will purchase something if it's available on the Overdrive catalog. Brooklyn is great for this.

Triple Play, a novella by Leslie Kelly.

Quote:
Introducing Unrated!, the hottest—and naughtiest—new miniseries from Blaze! Sneak a playful peek with this sexy prequel novella from New York Times bestselling author Leslie Kelly…

When she was eighteen, Emily Crowder was naughty for the first time in her life. She slipped naked into Rand McConnell's bed, experienced her first (and best) orgasm…and lost her heart. Then Rand disappeared without a word.

Seven years later, Rand strides back into her life, now a famous ballplayer, every woman's lust-filled fantasy—and a guest at Emily's hotel. He says he wants to explain…and he wants to finish what they started. Emily's Good Girl side reminds her of the pain she felt when Rand left the last time. But Emily has played the Good Girl for far too long. Perhaps it's time she let her Very, Very Naughty side take over again. Only this time, Rand is going to play by her rules…

Nobody can resist Montana Mavericks! From Whitehorn to Thunder Canyon to Rust Creek Falls, the Big Sky cowboys have been roping in readers for decades. Now New York Times bestselling author Allison Leigh kicks off a special anniversary series with Destined for the Maverick, a short and sexy prequel sure to get you in the maverick mood!

Rust Creek Ramblings

Addie McBride might be the most adorable construction worker we've ever seen. But there's something a little suspicious about Rust Creek Falls' newest handyperson. Rumor has it she used to work in a big-city shopping mall—and that her only building experience is stacking piles of merino wool sweaters. So how in the world did she wind up on Jack Lawson's construction crew? Brace yourself, dear readers, as our Rust Creek cowboy meets his total opposite—who might just be his perfect match!

Deranged Marriage by Faith Bleasdale (Endeavour Press).

Quote:
Would you ever consider a marriage pact?

Holly Miller did. In a heartbroken and drunken haze, it had all seemed to make perfect sense.

George was her best friend – would always be her best friend – and if they both found themselves single at the age of thirty, well, why not?

But when, a decade later, a man Holly hasn't seen for years claims she’s signed a contract and she has to marry him, Holly realises exactly why it was not such a good idea.

Forget the fact that her career is going places, forget that she's head-over-heels in love with her gorgeous boyfriend, George wants the pact fulfilled and will stop at nothing to get his way.

At twenty-nine Holly’s life had been falling neatly into place – but the dramatic reappearance of her oldest friend is about to turn her whole world upside down, in ways she could not even imagine…

Can I do become I don’t?

Or will it all end horribly ever after…?
