You're almost there. To complete, go forward from the list of your checkouts. This second loop through the Overdrive menus won't have JavaScript. It will complete.

Menu > Browser Settings

is where JavaScript is toggled.

On a K3 you have to be in the Kindle browser first. Then press the Menu button and select "Browser Settings." On the next screen, you can Clear History, Clear Cookies, Disable Javascript, or Disable Images.

That's the ticket.

I've just checked after a hard reset to K3G 3.2.1, and with JavaScript disabled from the moment WiFi was enabled.

(Cleared browser history and cookies, images enabled).

JavaScript was not required to complete any step at all, neither on our library's Overdrive client site*1 nor on Amazon.

Seems to me the button (where all the trouble occurs) was labeled 'Get for Kindle' when JavaScript was enabled. This time, it was labeled 'Download'.

I did not find the absence of JavaScript support to be any hindrance.

Good on them, to make it work well without JavaScript.

So, to tell someone else about this (like my family) I'll just tell them to disable JavaScript before starting a session with the Overdrive library site.

I just ran through the whole process after clearing history and disabling JavaScript as soon as I went into the browser.

Zero problems start to finish. I was able to search for a book, put it into my cart, check it out, was forwarded to Amazon and had it sent directly to my Kindle. All while on my Kindle, computer NOT involved.

Thanks again for finding the way to do this. Stick around here at MobileRead. You've been a great help and maybe we can help you in future.

I can confirm that this does work on a 3G+wifi Kindle Keyboard model (K3) with software version 3.1. Library books cannot be delivered via 3G, so if you have access to 3G only (no wifi signal), the library book will download to your Kindle next time you have wifi coverage.

Added: I forgot to say "thank you" to teasonc! Your tip is very much appreciated.

Actually I was able to do it Kindle-only with sqweezer.com (which handles the no-new-window issue), but it was a pretty ugly process. It is much easier and faster to use a computer browser to navigate the library site, but nice to know I could do it in a pinch. And I will try the alternate approach described above—seems much better!

Hope Overdrive will add detection for Kindle browser, default to the mobile web site, and stop launching new window for the Amazon workflow. That would bring it on par with Sony.

I wonder if the mobile site would work even with JS enabled...have to work out the library URL however, so I can type it in and bookmark it.
