Well, when I say "everyone," I'm obviously not including the nut-cases and radicals who would not be "satisfied" even if the law literally handed them everything on the planet on a silver platter. I'm mainly referring to rational people.
Law is about compromise. Welcome to society. |

When an industry frontpiece starts demanding 75 trillion dollars in damages, then you know there is urgent need to stop such claims even making it to court.

Problem with that is, on cloud based services you don't know how many devices you're putting it on. Say you're allowed on upto 5 devices, and you have it on your computer, your ereader and in the cloud. Do you count that as 3, or some other absurd number because of the number of servers that may have the info in that service?

The point of the article isn't really that the kid got caught file-sharing... it's that the decision was so extreme as to "threaten innovation," in the eyes of the EFF and lawyers, so they want the courts to set precedents for appropriate decisions and penalties. Yeah. Him. |

Because I do not and nor did the presiding judge, who promptly told them to go back and invent a figure that was far more realistic. This is a most lucrative method of the entertainment industry to bolster profits. CD and DVD sales are falling, no problems, find a few bunnies or an organisation to sue... |

I agree that copyright is obsolete, since it is now possible to retain payment methods inside of content itself.
The thing about fair use is that it is a joke. We can store the entire library on a website and give it away for free, in a sense we are, this is not commercial, is it fair??????????? Yes. |

We already know that the concept of fairness is a joke to you.
