Yeah, you won't know until then. I signed up for the $100 TV.

It remains to be seen whether they'll honor the invites on a first-come-first serve or random selection or best customer only basis.

I'm not fond of this method, but it is what it is.

I'm not fond of this method, but it is what it is.

I doubt if we'll be able to tell what their method is. I'd like to think it's a queue that favors current Prime members over 1-month Prime Day shoppers (I assume most of those don't sign up until they've settled on the purchases they want).

Anyway I signed up for the TV too, received the email at 10:43 ET, so we can compare our results. (There's a good deal on a Mounting Dream wall mount today - hope it's still there if I get lucky with the TV)

If their goal is to encourage people on a Prime trial to switch to a full subscription, they might favor those over existing Prime members. They do like to do deals that benefit new subscribers, while giving nothing to long time subscribers, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do it that way.

Go to Prime Day and scroll 1/4 down the page. You'll see a total of 8 items saying "invite-only deal".

You MUST be a Prime member to request an invite

By making them think they'll continue to get special deals like that if they subscribe after their trial. It's a suspect strategy, but Amazon's been showering goodies on new members while shitting on the old ones for years, so it's apparently what they're thinking.

This isn't available unto July 3rd. I don't know if they changed it recently, but the terms currently say this (emphasis added):

Aha, thanks. Not much of anything there to tempt me to sign up for a free trial. I'm hoping for a vacuum cleaner. Good luck with the TV--that's a good deal!
