Seems it's working now. Do you have plan to release the firmware to the public?

I cannot give out the whole image, but if you can flash stock kobo firmware to nook and boot it correctly yourself, I may share my modifications to the firmware and koreader/plato as a "One-Click" Install Packages thanks for NiLuJe.

You could also release an xdelta or similar patch for the firmware file so that other people can try this without you needing to distribute the modified firmware file yourself.

Yes, agreed that a patch would work well.

When I made changes on a free copyright book given out by Tor, I made a patch file for it so I could distribute it here on MR.

B&N Nook Glowlight 3 (2017) - WiFi does not work, I couldn’t find how to force the backlight to turn on, the screen is upside down for obvious reasons.
Tolino Shine 2 HD 4A2 - the backlight can be turned on using certain actions, but this will always have to be done, after sleep and after turning off. WiFi works.
Tolino Shine 2 HD 4A3 - WiFi does not work. Everything else is the same as on 4A2.
Hi Waldy,
How did you get a kobo image into Nook?
And is it revertable?

I have very superficial knowledge, experts will probably describe how this is done correctly.
In a nutshell, I did everything from under TWRP using adb commands.
First I made a full copy of mmcblk0.img from Glowlight-3 (lasts about 45 minutes), then flashed the image from Glo HD (lasts about 90 minutes).

Yes.
To go back, I start TWRP and use adb to flash the original mmcblk0.img from Glowlight-3 (lasts about 90 minutes).
If you want to experiment with Glowlight-3, write to me in PM, I will share all the data.

Thanks for your reply, actually I did all of my test on a defected nook which automatically enter SDP mode after rebooting, so I don't know how to transfer a kobo image to a normally running machine.

A tiny suggestion: After flash kobo image, replace ntxfw, hwcfg and waveform partition etc. with android one might help correct some problem, as this article said.

Which kernel do you use? The Kobo Glo HD one or the Nook stock one? The Glo HD one seems can't drive the EPD properly.
Btw, does nook open source the nook glowlight 7.8's kernel?

The stock one was used. AFAIK, I didn't see any code from nook.
