Yes, those are the SmartLink patches.

Since we are talking to geeks, you can also use Cygwin and still use those utilities. For the sake of bashers, I attached my script: in case of error, I manually fix the rejected files.

After updating Kobo readers for a few years now, I forgot that one crucial step in the instructions to "Install the firmware on your kobo BEFORE proceeding" this time.

It's now stuck on the updating three dots screen.

Is there a way back from this?

You are going to have to perform a manual factory reset.

If you've been backing up your database with Kobo Utilities, you'll be able to restore it and all of your books.

That worked. Took me a few attempts to get it right and quite a time in Calibre trying to get the list of books that was in the database to match the ones in the selection.

I'm really glad I set up the auto daily Calibre database backups.

Thanks for all your help.

There's one other thing you can do to help with backups. You can use the Reading List plugin and a custom Y/N column to keep track of which book are on your Reader.

The patch Allow rotation on all devices: does not prevent auto rotate. Can a patch be created to stop auto rotate? Thanks.

@jesson345,

This patch is still available, unchanged for many years and still works the same as it has always worked.

If you're having difficulty with font-family in kepubs it's much more likely that the problem is caused by the major changes Kobo made to font handling in fw 4.32.xxxxx and onwards. To be sure I'd need to look at the CSS inside one of your problematic books. It's unlikely that Kobo see the current situation as a bug which needs fixing. Kobo's guidelines on fonts specifically state:
Quote:
Content creators are advised against referencing fonts in the CSS that are not embedded in the ePub.

With this one, it's two releases that flashing the patch has no effect. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, it's the same three patches I've always used, and they always worked on my Libra 2 until a short time ago

Has anyone had this problem? The other firmware in which it didn't work is 4.33.19611

And the thing is, both the terminal output and the log file seem to say that the process went well, and the patches were applied. Only, after copying the file and rebooting, nothing changes.

Yeah that would be helpful, thank you. This way I can confirm whether I've made a mistake or this is a bug
