I like what you've done, but I can't get it to work. I've been trying for the last 20 minutes to get it to recognize Jacksonville, FL with no luck. Kuala Lumpur, on the other hand, works fine. It seems that when there are multiple cities with the same name in the data base it has a hard time selecting the right one.

Hi kkinser, thanks for your feedback. We are aware if this issue and we are almost ready with a fix to target the issue. In the meanwhile as a workaround we've set your location manually to Jacksonville, FL.

Hi, well definitely the BETA is guaranteed to be free. We are planning some new features during BETA to be available soon and of course we are working on fixies and stability improvements continuously. And weather.com mobile doesnt save my preferences (metric units) ...

I notice the Weather Station e-book on Amazon that is selling for 99 cents does not have "Beta" on the screen.
Is it still the Beta version?

Does the screen refresh every minute to update the time cause an increased drain on the battery similar to reading a page a minute?

Yes we're still in Beta. Regarding Amazon e-book it was not yet officially advertised(coming next week) and main purpose is launching the Kindle Weather Station directly from the home screen of Kindle. The e-book contains service's FAQ, TOS and the link to our website.
Due to the Amazon's publishing conditions we were unable to publish the e-book for free initially but we are working on it.

Regarding the refreshing of the screen: There is only small portion of the screen refreshed every minute(it is not a full page refresh). Additionally there are regular refreshes of weather data every X minutes (including internet traffic).
Our measurements show that if you leave Kindle Weather Station running with disabled screensaver then the battery lasts approximately 2 days. We suggest to use a docking station/cradle to use it in this way.
