sure, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a significant number who *will* convert, nonetheless. just glancing around this board it's easy to see that ebook readers are anything but homogenous, i think it's fairly meaningless to talk about a "typical" or "average" profile.

When something says that it support HTML the support can be taken with a grain of salt. Often they don't support CSS, they don't support Images (since these are not in the file), they often don't even fully support 3.2 level of HTML, much less a later standard.

that's true, although of course that doesn't mean you can't still make a perfectly decent ebook (relatively few novels include images, for example). i guess we'll have to wait and see what support they propose when the models are finally released on the market, as well as what other formats they may propose. apparently the site does mention an ebook format to be announced.

Heck - the Gen3's so-called "support" for HTML doesn't even include working hyperlinks within the file!

I have been thinking about building a table in the wiki comparing all the implementations of the Mobi format support among the available eBook readers and software. Perhaps we also need one for HTML and maybe some other formats that are check boxes on the list of supported formats.

I think that would be extremely useful, Dale.

So much for the end of 2008 release data mentioned earlier in this thread. The Readius sounds like a very cool device on paper, I just wish there was some good data on when it will come out. In the meantime, I can't wait to see the Kindle 2, at least I know when that will come out...
