Thanks - but when/why would one use Pages in chapter in preference to Position in chapter, i.e. what's the design intent of having both.

A terracotta clay tablet might be better for 'Paged mode'. More in keeping with the scroll. Clay tablets predate papyrus scrolls and they last longer

Position and pages are different kinds of metrics like location and pages on a kindle. Which you prefer is your choice and you can excercise that preference at the book or the chapter level.

@comfy: the icon is just the unicode character for page U+1f5cf unfortunately the unicode standard in their infinite wisdom didnt make it an "emoji" so it renders smaller depending on the interface font.

a tap of the spacebar triggers a page change without losing your place (just like a real paper book page turn)
