Nun bin ich durch mit "Neverland" und auch mir hat es große Freude beim Lesen gemacht. Ich glaube, ich werde langsam zum Neil Gaiman-Fan - erst vor kurzem hatte ich ihn beim Lesen von "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" entdeckt.
Gefühlsmäßig empfand ich das Buch als eine Mischung aus Stephen King und Michael Endes "Momo"; der Gruselfaktor erinnerte mich an King, aber weshalb mir Momo und die grauen Herren dabei in den Kopf kamen kann ich nicht erklären. Neben den schon erwähnten Humordurchblitzern gab es auch durchaus ernsthafte Stellen, z.B. Spoiler:

Bin auch durch und fand es sehr gut.
Dadurch das ich "Lycidas" schon kannte gab es immer so ein begleitendes DejaVu beim lesen obwohl sich die Geschichten doch auseinanderentwickeln wenn ich mich richtig erinnere. Gibt es eigentlich in der Englischen Literatur ein Vorbild für die Herren Croup und Vandemar? In Pratchetts "The Truth" tauchen fast identische Gestalten unter den Namen Pin und Tulip auf, das kann natürlich auch daher kommen das Pratchett und Gaiman schon öfter zusammen gearbeitet haben und diese Figuren zusammen entwickelt haben. |

Ich arbeite mich auf die Mitte zu und stelle erfreut fest, dass das Buch eigentlich bei jedem Lesen gewinnt.
Der Humor gefällt mir auch sehr gut, aber leider kommt er nicht bei allen Leuten an. Spoiler:

So, ich habe dann heute auch endlich mal etwas weiter gelesen und es gefällt mir auch beim zweiten Mal ausnehmend gut. Bis jetzt kam mir auch alles bekannt vor. Das beruhigt mich schon mal ein bisschen, also funktioniert das Gedächtnis noch.
Ich bin erst bei 21%, werde dann aber nachher im Bett noch etwas weiter lesen. Quote:

Wäre ja auch mal nett als Autor zwei neue Archetypen geprägt zu haben
Wenn es diesen Typ schon geben sollte würde ich ihn ja am ehesten irgendwo bei Shakespeare vermuten, aber da ist mir keiner eingefallen |

Ich bin inzwischen bei Kapitel 9 angelangt. Sie müssten also bald auf den Engel Islington treffen.
Ich denke beim Lesen, ja das hast du schon mal gelesen, weiß aber trotzdem immer nicht, was als nächstes passiert. Nun ja, irgendwann kann ich wohl alles nochmal lesen und brauche keine neuen Bücher mehr. |

Ich bin dann auch durch und es hat mir wieder gut gefallen. Am Ende ist man ein wenig traurig, dass es keine weiteren Geschichten mit den Helden der Geschichte gibt oder auch mit den Katzenliebhabern Vandemar & Croup.
Gaiman ist schon ein außergewöhnlicher Erzähler mit ganz eigenen Ideen. |

Ich sehe schon, ich bin diesmal die letzte Mohikanerin. Bin bei Kapitel 13. (Toter Baum usw., aber die Schriftgröße rechtfertigt keinen Ebook-Kauf. ) Bin aber auch am Wochenende nicht wirklich zum Lesen gekommen.
Insgesamt muss ich sagen: Es macht Lust auf mehr Gaiman. Ich denke, ich werde es endlich noch mal mit American Gods probieren (das ich nur angelesen und dann als Hörbuch gehört habe). Ich mag einfach seinen Stil. |

Da der Monat sich langsam doch dem Ende zuneigt , habe ich beschlossen, ein bisschen Gas zu geben und höre die letzten 6 Kapitel als Hörbuch. Dabei fällt mir wieder mal auf, dass Neil Gaiman ein genialer Vorleser ist. Er könnte ruhig noch andere Bücher als seine eigenen lesen, ich hätte nichts dagegen.
Ja, es ist schade, dass wir Croup und Vandemar nicht mehr begegnen werden. Aber wirklich tot sind die beiden doch nicht, oder verstehe ich das falsch? Vielleicht tauchen sie ja in einem anderen Gaiman-Universum, äh, -Buch noch mal auf. Manchmal verfluche ich mein schlechtes Gedächtnis für Details, aber beim Wiederlesen eines Buches ist es doch nicht schlecht, wenn man sich zumindest nicht an alles genau erinnern kann. Spoiler:
