An update:

I have talked to my son and he keeps telling me that everything is "okay"... I have a feeling that he isn't/won't tell me the whole story... But is there anywhere to get screens for these? I have looked and can't find anything anywhere...

The last thing I heard about replacement screens was they cost around $180 and you had to order the part from Sony. The price for a new e-ink screen is more than a new reader. Go figure.

Why the screen is so easy to break?

Sony never mention such thing on the instruction that not to press on the screen too hard or etc.

My PRS-700 just break the screen after a week of using.

What is the way to avoid cracking the screen? Obviously the leather cover come with the 700 is not thick enough to protect it from cracking.

Would you lean on the screen of your laptop or cell phone? Treat it with the same care and the screen will be fine.
