You use the ereader or app settings to set line-height, which fails if set in css. The line-height should never be set in a reflowable ebook.
Also the line-height is automatically more according to actual size of font (font metrics and font size).

Not quite true. See attached images where I changed the base font size from 0.75em to 1.0em to 2.0em in the basic body style. The 4th image is 2em with a line height set to 1.8. For my personal uses, the only time I use a line height is when working on a book for visually impaired where I find a line height of 1.5 works better. Basically, line height is a multiplier for the font size so increasing the font size automagically increases the line height unless you try setting the line height in absolute units (32px for instance). Absolute units should never be used in a reflowable ebook.

Calibre ebook reader adds blank-page-div at end of each chapter

In the ebook I have just create Calibre e-book viewer seems to add the following tag to the end of the XHTML file of each chapter just before the closing body tag.

Code:
<blank-page-div style="break-before: column; display: block; white-space: pre; background-color: transparent; background-image: none; border-width: 0px; float: none; position: static;">
    </blank-page-div>
This can be found by right clicking in the e-book viewer, selecting Inspector (bottom left), then expanding html elements of the document:
  • body
  • NOT svg
  • div id="view"
  • div style="max-height: 100vh;
  • div style="max-height: 100vh;
  • div style="max-height: 100vh;
  • NOT div style="width: 20px;
  • div
  • NOT div style="height: 20px;
  • iframe
  • #document
  • html
  • NOT head
  • body
  • NOT (the content of the chapter)
Then before the closing body tag is the above blank-page-div

What it does, I do not know, however I suspect it is the cause of blank pages at the end of chapters.

If it is of interest or relevance I am using calibre 5.37 on Ubuntu 22.04
