Blossom, I bought a $10 case for a Sony prs300 at Walmart. It had a plastice spine inside to hold the Sony in place. I yanked that out and put in velcro to keep the kindle in place. The case fit the kindle without any overhang from the case. It's not perfect but it was dirt cheap, easy to find locally, and does the job of protecting my kindle for now.

I think most cases for Sony prs300s would work.

Not sure about that. I got an e-mail today from Best Buy (electronics retailer in U.S.) saying "Pre order at any Best Buy store Kindle Family arriving soon."

Personally, I'm not that crazy about the cover and I dislike the very limited colors. I know for a fact that I would not dish $59.99 for the 4 they have listed there. Maybe if they had a lovely blue or pretty red, I might reconsider but only because I really like the light.

Regardless of colors, I hope this isn't the only style they're going to offer.

Damm! that's expensive, but I like it though, the cover I mean.

Oh Wow that's so cool! Just in time for Black Friday I bet! I hate that my birthday (Nov 29) falls right after Black Friday. I can never get what I want unless I buy it early.

I personally don't see the point of buying a cheap, thin, light gizmo only to slap an expensive, thick, heavy cover on it. I rather go commando

Besides, it's not like I'm sticking it in my back pocket, which the kindle ads clearly show I can do!

K3 definitely benefited from a cover (I found it too slippery otherwise and the lighted cover is awesome), but I'm going to wait and see on the KT. Don't want to deal with more bulk than necessary, and Nook Touch has been fine without one.

I want one for protection. I am looking for a sleeve to slip it in when not reading. I'm, not going to pay those prices though.

Thank gawd, I'm not the only one who feels the screen contrast is/has been totally insufficient. I've been bitching about it on eReaderJoy, but almost never seeing it mentioned in articles.
Sounds good that it's better, but to my mind it will have to be a nearly white background for it to be really good.

I just found out today the $79 does not have audio.

While not a total deal killer It is a disappointment
since I like to listen to audio books.
