Add -romance to the advanced search. That seems to turn up a lot classic Westerns

The e-reader fixes that quite nicely. Using that, we read the same "book" all the time

WHile I don't think I'm a book snob, I am a bit judgemental about people who don't read at all. Seems pretty boring to have to live in the mundane present at all times, that or get your only escape through video formats instead of being able to use your mind's eye to imagine other places and lives. |

Anne Rice made vampires popular. Stephenie Meyer made them sparkly.

I tell my wife she doesn't read enough. And she doesn't read enough.

LOVED the Mayfair Trilogy +. (The + being because she later tied them into the Vampire Chronicles.) I'm planning on reading the entire Vampire / Mayfair chronology. I've read most of them already, but it's been years, and Rice is on my short list of authors I can re-read.

I both read romance novels and say of them that it is porn for women. The reason being that I am hoping to get my conversation partner to realize that what most women find sexy is a plot - hence "porn" - and not just a closeup of genitalia as is usually marketed at men - hence "for women".

I am too, but only after they voice that they believe, as the author does, that the main characters have a healthy relationship. I then decide that this is not a person with whom I want to have any type of relationship. No part of the way the relationship in 50 Shades is written is healthy. There are healthy relationships that feature BDSM, but the author misses the mark at writing one.

There are so many levels of romance novels from No Sex to Sexy. Then you leap over to Erotica Romance which I do read and just plain Erotica which I'm not a fan of. I need plot, characterization, suspense and some good ole fashion sexual tension or good chemistry if it's an inspirational. |
