I just have to have time to do this. I've not had the time. One problem is I don't know how the increased weight translates to different programs to get the same weight.

Also, as per the official website, the 6.2 does not have any significant changes to line spacing, glyph widths, or kerning versus the 6.1 to avoid layout changes, so the modifications might be easier than anticipated. |

Howdy, I'm trying to use CharInk6SP on my Libra 2 and I'm finding the regular weight is just extremely heavy, even with the newer font weight slider all the way to the left (firmware v4.38) Is it my device that's at play or is is just quite heavy?
Pics attached. This is a kepub. The italics that are rendering are much more what I like. The "before" in the second pic is Minion Pro Med which is also my speed. I'm going in circles around font names and fontforge too, so it could be me. Can't currently get Noto Sans to render thinly, either, though that's off topic. The one you want is ChareInk6SP NoWeight. With that version, there's no need to reduce the weight and some (including myself) add weight. If you are using the version with no added weight, try ePub and not KePub in case it's an issue with KePub. |

1. Which version is which and 2. What's the purpose of the "Hinted" folder? I have a Kobo Clara Colour. Which version should I use? |

ChareInk6SP has a smaller space then ChareInk6. I like the ChareInk6SP on my Libra 2 and on a Kindle PW5. The weighted versions are version that have had weight added too them by a font editor. I did this back when I had a Reader that did not have the ability to add weight to the font. Try the hinted version(s) as the hinted fonts have a smaller file size. For a font to work properly on a Kindle it needs to be hinted. On a Kobo, the font can be hinted or not. I don't recall if I am using a hinted version or not. On a Kobo it makes no difference. I suggest you try ChareInk6SP with no added weight and see how you like it. If you find the spaces too small, you can try ChareInk6 with no added weight. You can go for the |

I've highlighted the issue earlier and wouldn't recommend the use of the weighted version. There are many visual artifacts rendering it unusable for reading (tiny spikes at joints, slanted lines, etc.).

IMHO. it's good enough on an eInk screen. You've enlarged it more then it would be seen on an eInk screen. But yes, I do agree that the weighted version has some issues.

I can confirm that the artifacts are in fact quite visible at smaller sizes (300dpi eink display, font size 28) and are very bothersome while reading.

What I might try is upping the wight using Fontforge and see how that goes. |
