Yes, I did try to disable KU. I even deleted it and then reinstalled and it still will not allow disabling.

For what it's worth, I was also unable to disable the plug-in in calibre. I tried my calibre portable beta install (5.99.12) which had KU 2.16.3 installed and it also was unable to disable the plugin.

I then removed the calibre portable install, installed the 6.00 calibre portable, installed Kobo Utilities and was still unable to disable.

Everything works fine with only one or two books. Selecting a whole pile of books doesn't work. I ran in debug mode, I'd rather not attach the full log since it seems to list every book on my device. Here's the last book mentioned before the crash happens, up to the final line.

EDIT: It crashed on the 5th book being processed according to the log. I had selected about 40 books.

Have you tried uninstalling the Kobo Utilities plugin? Looking at the log you posted, I didn't see anything that referenced the Kobo Utilities plugin. The KoboTouchExtended plugin was being used which has it's own thread at [Device Plugin] Kobo Touch Extended Driver . You might also try using the KoboTouch driver to send epubs to see if that also fails.

Kobo Utilities + Annotations integration?
I'm very satisfied with the features provided by the two Kobo Utilities and Annotations plugins, but I was wondering if these couldn't be improved with some kind of automation integration?

More precisely, when both plugins are installed, I would love having Kobo Utilities being able to trigger annotation retrival/update as another automated action.

In a similar way, it could be nice to be able to manually trigger these "at device connection" actions in order to reduce the usb wear.

You might be able to do this using the Action Chains plugin.

Actually, you can't disable any of the User Interface plugins. I had completely forgotten that when replied earlier. What I was thinking of was the error you get when trying to configure a plugin after installing it and before restarting calibre. And it can happen if the plugin doesn't initialise properly.

As @DNSB said, that has nothing to do with the Kobo Utilities plugin. That is the KoboTouchExtended driver doing its work to transform an epub to kepub when the book is being sent to the device. It would be better to discuss this there. But, is this on a Mac? There were some issues with the Mac and the driver that I thought had been sorted out. But, it's possible it was in a beta that hasn't been released. And there are enough changes in calibre 6 to have changed what happens. Also, it is the fifth book no matter what books you select, or are you trying to send the same set of books?

Sorry, it isn't something I am interested in doing. I just don't think enough people would use it, and there are complications in how the plugins work that would make it difficult. The annotations plugin needs a single book to be selected when starting, and there could be issues with multiple dialogs opening at the same time. Plus, there is no way to only get new annotations. And the annotations fetch runs in the foreground.

Why? You connect, fetch the book status, fetch the annotations and send new books to the device. Unless you are saying that you keep forgetting to fetch the annotations and have to plug it in again the fetch the annotations, I don't see how it increases the USB wear. And honestly, my seven year old laptop does have a slightly looser than new USB port, it also depends on the cable I am using. The one I use with the Sage is actually a bit hard to plug in. And none of my devices, including the 10+ year old Touch, have any problems with the port.

Sorry, I was away for a couple of days.

That Mac driver issue from a few months ago with KTE was me. I appear to be running KTE 3.6.0.

It is not always the 5th book. If I upload single books at a time, everything goes fine. I think it might be the total MB of books uploaded, because I failed with only updating 2 large books one time, while I can sometimes to 8 small books.

The timeline was: I was running Calibre 5.44, and everything was working fine. I saw the update was available for Kobo Utilities 2.16.4, so I installed it. I tried to load a batch of books to my Libra 2, and Calibre crashed. I was thinking that it might have a Calibre 6.0 dependency, so I upgraded Calibre, but it still behaved badly.

If you'd like me to jump over to a different thread, I don't mind.

Looking for some simple language help fixing my Kobo Utilities plugin.
When trying to set it up and backup my database (which I'm in the process of rebuilding as the previous one was corrupted) I came across the following errors which prevent me from continuing.

When I try to 'View library preferences...' an error pops up...
ERROR: Unhandled exception (AttributeError: 'QTextEdit' object has no attribute 'setTabStopWidth').

Also, when I try to 'Backup device database' I get the following error...
ERROR: Unhandled exception (AttributeError:type object 'QFileDialogue' has no attribute 'AnyFile').

I have tried removing the Kobo Utilities plugin, restarting Calibre, reinstalling plugin. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Calibre.

I'm at a loss as to how to fix these errors so I can use the plugin properly and googling didn't give me any suggestions at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
