So you don't do measurements ? I find just looking at myself a really tricky way to judge whether I lost weight. One of the most interesting things I ever learned about dieting is that it can take up to a year for your brain to come to terms with the slimmer you. I always used to think I was fatter than I was. Thinking 'I will never fit into this' when I picked up a pair of pants was very common when I first lost weight. Now I'm pretty good at picking out clothes that fit.
So you just see yourself fatter than you are in reality. I try to combine the two (weighing and measuring), especially when I excercise a lot while dieting. Sadly I'm really horrible at keeping it (measuring) up, it just takes too much time
Maybe you might ask your partner to do the measuring for you ... Exactly so. Lately I became a different person in many ways: the weight, that is a different look, although I am not buying clothes yet as I want to loose more. Than I'll change look as you girls know how to do one day from an other one. No more drinking, no more smoking (big differences in behavior from these two also and in opinion of self which is right there on top of everything), and more. So that when I look in the mirror I do not recognize myself any more. Who is this guy, what does he want? Quite a weird feeling. It is getting slightly easier now. This new guy does not like the things that the old one liked, and likes new things. More frivolous, more adventurous. One of these days I will invite some unknown beauty for a drink and if she accepts, I'll get myself in deep troubles. That sort of things. It can be unsettling. For the moment I just stop at raising a smile. |

I've been exercising with Your Shape: Fitness Evolved for the Kinect for about a week. I've burned 1,000 calories, which puts me in the top 5,000 of Your Shape users. It's a fun way to get a workout and be reminded just how soft and out of shape I am.
Funniest part is, when I stepped away to use the facilities the announcer says "Hey! Where are you going?" I yelled back, "I'm in the bathroom, if that's alright with you lady." Yeah, exercise makes me a little crazy. |

It all depends on the situation I think. I'm pretty sure there will be no measuring done if I ask him, he'd get way to distracted Quote:

I know. I am kind of like that with any artificial cosmetic interferences.
For the life of me, I cannot comprehend why ladies enlarge breasts let alone it is dangerous. I mean...as a man...I have a hand grip if I wanna squeeze something that feels nothing. At least it makes my hand stronger. Quote:
Actually, you might ask him from time to time and use his reaction as an approximate measurement |

I'm not so sure about that theory. Ever heard about the Fat Admirers ? I bet they'd get pretty excited when asked to do measurements for their woman.
I guess I'm just lucky I met a guy who isn't attracted to skinny girls. Once in a blue moon I complain about my bum (big bums run in the family). He always answers: don't worry, I like it Last edited by Iridal; 01-10-2011 at 11:42 AM. |

Great New Book on Dieting
I'm currently reading an excellent "new" approach to slimming and staying slim. I put "new" in quotes because I guess nothing's really new in the diet world. However, Tres Hatch's approach is fresh and new to me. And she does a wonderful job in her book, Miracle Pill: 10 Truths to Healthy, Thin, & Sexy. She also has an amazing story to tell.

Oh my, this thread really is taking a turn for the worst ... Time to get back on topic ! I downloaded one of those 'count your calories' apps for my iPhone and logged everything I ate today. So on a normal diet day I ate about 550 calories less than I need to maintain my weight and burned about 300 calories while running. Ha, this weight will come off in no time |

I'm struggling now. I lost a lot a weight steadily over months but now I'm just sitting bouncing up and down within a narrow range. Been that way for about 2 months. I must get moving. My friends look at me and wonder why I want to lose more. I'm 5'10" and weigh about 165 lbs so my BMI says I'm within a healthy range. But I'm one of those "small boned" people. You know, a toothpick. Except that this toothpick has been covered in fat for years so no one knew. Even when I was fat, I could easily touch the tip of my thumb to the tip of my index finger wrapped around my opposite wrist and have an inch or so to spare. I don't know any other adult male that can do that. I can still see the rolls of fat across my abdomen. So maybe it's time for drastic action. Who here has a sharp knife, a good vacuum cleaner, and some experience with anesthesia?

The same thing happened to me, and I've heard other people complain about this as well. I vaguely recall my dietitian telling me my body got used to the diet, or something along those lines. Maybe you should just start eating 'normally' again, try to maintain your weight but stop dieting for a while. And then after a couple of weeks/months start again. I'm pretty sure that's what I did. No need for drastic measures just yet |

If you're a guy and sensitive about 'girl talk', don't read this
I've been wanting to ask all the ladies on this forum: do you notice weight gain during your period ? Some girls I know gain weight before their period, but not during. I've gained about 1 kg (2 pounds) since my period started, but I've been following my diet plan so I can't actually have gained weight right ? Last edited by Iridal; 01-19-2011 at 09:30 AM. |

My GP tells me the same that I am well within the range. I just don't give a fig about their ranges. Mirror is the best one. I have a spare tyre and only sport, aerobics, could help me, and probably you too as long as we eat sensibly. Intensity that h_t has been doing would be the best I am just not up to it... |
