You're welcome. I unpacked the file with KindleUnpack and it seems there were only 3 faulty headwords: curriculum vitæ, ex æquo and hors-d'œuvre.

Yes! I tried again to edit the strange characters in vscode and I succeeded. Only this time I used the html file extracted by KindleUnpack, not the gls file generated by your script. Then I took the edited html and converted it to xml using your script and then to Stardict using pyglossary. My mistake was trying to convert gls to bgl by Babylon Glossary Builder and it always gave an error. Anyway, I think converting a file multiple times wouldn't be cool haha. Using mobitool is better and faster.

Just a quick note: Even though Textual Format is more versatile and made gls obsolete, you don't actually have to convert gls to bgl. StarDict Editor supports it as an input format. Just select 'Babylon file' from the dropdown menu and compile.

1. вам необходимо создать эти файлы по примеру для других языков.
2. затем запускаете (для файла eng_serb.xdxf) => _eng_serb.bat

в папке появится файл словаря => eng_serb.dic

то вы можете
1. программой 7-Zip (https://www.7-zip.org/) открыть и извлечь из name*.dz архива файл
*name*.dict
2. переименуйте *name*.dict => name*.txt
2. converter.exe *name*.txt serb

Despite my trying blindly in various ways, I am not able to convert the polished xdxf it-it vocabulary which I posted on another thread to stardict, for KOreader (no problem for converting to .dic, instead). Possibly my installation of python is fouled up. @Markismus, could you see if that is trivial for you?

They're uploaded to pCloud and reside in the subdirectory ITA-ITA. (I am assuming that the three letter code for Italian is ITA.)

One day I will get enough interest in Docker and make a Docker image for PocketBookDic, too. It seems too many people run into problems with the dependencies. @EastEriq Do you have the Stardict binaries installed? You know that they're only available for Linux, right? The script is in Perl, though, so your Python installation matters only for using KindleUnpack with mobi- and awzX-files.

Thank you very much Markismus, that will do. Do I need the stardict binaries to have PocketBookDic generate the stardict files? I would assume no, because time ago I managed to convert hebrew dictionaries. But since then maybe I upgraded my linux distribution, or ended up mixing python modules of different versions installed with different tools, so that pyglossary was not working for me anymore. Turning to external help was in this case better than looking for a fresh system, or wasting further time in attemtp. Much appreciated!
