Download MRI Package Installer and copy the contents of the zip to the root of your device.

Download KUAL (coplate) version. And copy the Update_KUALBooklet_e3deabf_install.bin into /mrpackages folder. Unplug your device.

In Search, type in ;log mrpi and wait for it to finish. When it reboots, you should have the KUAL file in your Library.

For my PW4 I did the following:

1) Places the contents of kual-mrinstaller-1.7.N-r18896.tar.xz in the root directory of the Kindle. It should be the MRInstaller folder and extensions.

1.1) Additionally placed the activate bin file of KUAL-e3deabf-20220213.tar.xz inside the MRInstaller folder.

2) In the search button, type ;log mrpi . This will install KUAL and MRInstaller.

You will be ready.

3) For PW2,3,4 etc download koreader-kindlepw2-v2022.03.1.zip
and place the extension inside the extension folder of the kindle and the original source files of koreader in the root directory.

4) Add renameotabin.zip extension too. See previous post. Apparently is for preventing upgrades.

Are we out of luck on PW5 with 5.14.0.1 ?

@bookyboy You should just manually download update bin for 5.14.1.1 on your PC, transfer it to you Kindle and update firmware.

Then do factory reset and jailbreak using the files for 5.14.1.1.
That was just what I did today.

Worked like a charm on my PW4 on FW 5.13.6. Thanks for the excellent work!

One question, ever since I've factory reset my device (as required for step 1) both Dark Mode and Bluetooth icons are missing from my Quick Settings bar.

Any suggestions on how could I fix this? I've skipped account setup and device is on airplane mode as I fear that "Rename OTA hack" might not be sufficient to prevent forced upgrades.

I did this on my Oasis 3 on 5.14.2 and it worked perfectly!
Though I didn't see a "configuration mismatch" screen or had to enter any store info, but hey it seems to still work, lol.

It also worked on my Paperwhite 3 running 5.13.6.

It took some digging to get KOReader and its prerequisites installed, so I’ll put the info here. All downloads besides renametobin and KOReader come from the NiLuJe's Snapshots thread.

MR Package Installer and KUAL
MR (mobileread) Package Installer
KUAL (Kindle Unified Application Launcher)
1) Extract mrpackages and extension folders from kual-mrinstaller-1.7.N-r18896.tar.xz to your Kindle’s root folder.
2) Extract Update_KUALBooklet_e3deabf_install.bin file from KUAL-e3deabf-20220213.tar.xz (coplate version of KUAL) to mrpackages folder which is in your Kindle’s root folder.
3) Eject you Kindle and open the search on it and type ;log mrpi (installs KUAL and MRInstaller).

renametobin
Prevents OTA updates from Amazon so you can make sure your Kindle doesn’t update which could blow away your jailbreak.
1) Extract renametobin folder from renameotabin.zip to the extensions folder of your Kindle.
2) Eject your Kindle and launch KUAL on it.
3) Tap “Rename OTA Binaries”, then tap “Rename” (Only tap “Restore” when you want to re-enable OTA updates or if you want manually update firmware via "Update Your Kindle" from Settings menu on Kindle)

KOReader
1) Extract extensions and koreader folders from koreader-kindlepw2-v2022.03.1.zip to Kindle’s root folder.
2) Eject your Kindle and launch KUAL on it.
3) Tap “KOReader” then tap “Start KOReader”.
4) Wait ~10 seconds for KORreader to open.

Can I safely connect to the internet, or do I need to block OTA updates somehow? I found this in the Wiki, but it seems kinda outdated.
