And GREAT series. Especially if you start with the Farseer Trilogy, and the Tawny Man trilogy .... the previous books which feature these same characters.

Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Book 1) is currently on sale for $1.99 in the US

This is the first book in the series and I really enjoyed the early books, readers should be aware that the content of later books changes significantly. The early books were urban fantasy with the focus more on the zombie raising, crime solving etc where as the later ones focused on her relationships

'I don't date vampires. I kill them.'
My name is Anita Blake. Vampires call me the Executioner. What I call them isn't repeatable.

Ever since the Supreme Court granted the undead equal rights, most people think vampires are just ordinary folks with fangs. I know better. I've seen their victims. I carry the scars ... But now a serial killer is murdering vampires - and the most powerful bloodsucker in town wants me to find the killer.

Great collection of short fiction (DRM-free). I was actually a backer for this when it was on Kickstarter, but at this price I bought another copy to have in my Kobo library.

A Natural History of Dragons: (A Memoir by Lady Trent book 1) by Marie Brennan is on sale for $2.99 in the US but is also on sale for euro 2.86 in Germany and therefore likely to be on sale in multiple countries.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AEC8P2Y
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/a-n...ory-of-dragons

Marie Brennan begins a thrilling new fantasy series in A Natural History of Dragons, combining adventure with the inquisitive spirit of the Victorian Age.
You, dear reader, continue at your own risk. It is not for the faint of heart—no more so than the study of dragons itself. But such study offers rewards beyond compare: to stand in a dragon's presence, even for the briefest of moments—even at the risk of one's life—is a delight that, once experienced, can never be forgotten. . . .
All the world, from Scirland to the farthest reaches of Eriga, know Isabella, Lady Trent, to be the world's preeminent dragon naturalist. She is the remarkable woman who brought the study of dragons out of the misty shadows of myth and misunderstanding into the clear light of modern science. But before she became the illustrious figure we know today, there was a bookish young woman whose passion for learning, natural history, and, yes, dragons defied the stifling conventions of her day.
Here at last, in her own words, is the true story of a pioneering spirit who risked her reputation, her prospects, and her fragile flesh and bone to satisfy her scientific curiosity; of how she sought true love and happiness despite her lamentable eccentricities; and of her thrilling expedition to the perilous mountains of Vystrana, where she made the first of many historic discoveries that would change the world forever.

The publisher is Phoenix Pick. They make eBooks with some of the worst code. So do not be surprised if it has issues.

Bunduki

The J.T. Edson Bunduki books have been released for kindle for $1.99 each. I've been trying to get my hands on this series for years. The first book "Bunduki" was reprinted by DAW in the US so it's not too hard to find. The other three books were limited run, UK only, very expensive to find Corgi editions. I think I paid about $35 to get "Bunduki and Dawn" in a used paperback shipped from the UK a few years ago.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ABWA902

I don't know if the $1.99 is a permanent price, or just an introductory one. They've only been out a couple of weeks.

Quote:
They called James Allenvale Gunn ‘Bunduki’, the Swahili word for firearm of any kind. He and Dawn Drummond-Clayton should have been killed when their Land Rover plunged into the Gambuti Gorge. Instead, Bunduki woke to find himself in a primeval jungle and armed with primitive weapons. Dawn came to her senses on a game-haunted plain. Guided by subconscious suggestion, they set out to find each other. To do so, they had to transverse terrain populated by many kinds of wild animals and savage people. Before they were reunited, both had to face danger and death many times.
Fortunately for Dawn and Bunduki, they were respectively the adoptive great-granddaughter and son of Lord Greystoke—

H. Paul Honsinger Man of War Series....

H. Paul Honsinger's Man of War Series is on sale for $1.00 each, part of the Kindle Monthly Deals: $3.99 or less in Science Fiction & Fantasy.

To Honor You Call Us by H. Paul Honsinger
Spoiler:
The Terran Union is engaged in a vast interstellar war against the Krag, ruthless aliens intent on exterminating humankind. In 2315, the wily Max Robichaux is given command of the USS Cumberland, a destroyer with state-of-the-art capabilities but a combat record so bad, she’s known as the “Cumberland Gap.”

Capt. Robichaux’s first mission: to take his warship to the Free Corridor, where the Krag have secretly been buying strategic materials, and to seize or destroy any ships carrying enemy cargo. Far from the fleet and under enforced radio silence, Max relies only on his determination and guile…and the support and friendship of his chief medical officer, the brilliant Dr. Sahin.

Because even as he deals with the ship’s onboard problems and the stress of carrying out her risky assignment, Max and the doctor discover that the Cumberland and her misfit crew are all that stands in the way of a deadly Krag attack that threatens to end the war—and humanity—once and for all.

A far-future story in the tradition of “ships of wood, men of iron” novels, To Honor You Call Us and the Man of War series combines the adventure of exploration, the excitement of war, and the dangers of the unknown through the eyes of a ship and her crew.

For Honor We Stand by H. Paul Honsinger
Spoiler:
In 2315, the Earth Union is losing a thirty-year-long war with the Krag Hegemony.

Having encountered the Krag before, Space Commander Max Robicheaux now faces daunting challenges aboard the USS Cumberland: the dangers from the enemy without…and clashes with crew and superiors within.

Meanwhile, Doctor Sahin receives a coded message summoning him to a secret meeting that aims to forge an alliance that could change the balance of power in Known Space. But first, he must circumvent the fighter ships and heavily armed troops of the traitorous emir bent on killing him before he reaches the negotiating table.

Both men must call upon their developing skills and growing friendship to bear the burden of carrying between the Krag Hegemony and the Earth Union a fateful ultimatum and the shocking answer—an answer that could spell eternal slavery, or even extinction, for all humankind.

The second novel in the Man of War series, For Honor We Stand continues the galactic naval adventures of Robicheaux and Sahin.

Brothers in Valor by H. Paul Honsinger
Spoiler:
Sometimes Captain Max Robichaux fights by the book—and sometimes he throws the book away. This makes him one of the Union Space Navy’s rising stars. It’s also what has kept him and his green crew alive…thus far.

When Max and his ship—the twenty-fourth-century space destroyer USS Cumberland—are boxed in by eight enemy battleships, the odds are against them at a million to one. It takes all their skill and guts just to escape…and surviving won’t get easier. Sent on a covert mission behind enemy lines, Max and his crew are poised to strike a blow so hard that, if successful, it could turn the tide of the war. But if they fail, it will cost them their lives…and the lives of every human in the galaxy.

I have read the first two books and enjoyed them.
