Well... since I like to experiment, I have tried it (since some tutorials were suggesting it) and it seems to be indeed slower. However, it looks like we get more free memory. Got 90-105 Mb of memory at startup... had 40-60 before. Last edited by Icewyng; 01-09-2011 at 01:11 PM. |

It can be useful to push mostly unused apps into swap , thus freeing up RAM. However, the second you run out of RAM and the PB is trying to compensate with swap, it's going to be sllloooooooowwww.

Oh yea... got a lot of 100% CPU usage with it so I would not recommend doing this.
However, I might have a much bigger problem... I tried to reset my IQ this morning and it won't turn on, even though It worked like night and it is plugged in! I hope I wonèt end up with a nice IQ paperweight... |

Well...seems my IQ died on me.
All I did was reset it and it never turned back on... I am puzzled as to why it did that. |

The "click of death" can be recovered from by reflashing a f/w image. If you are in a reset loop, try hitting the reset button on the top or force a shutdown with adb.

Tried reflashing the IQ with the 2.0.3 Fw and it did not work so I have decided to load up Eclipse and check with logcat to see what was going on. Since the device was not detected (it was the first time it didn't show up in there) so I decided to reboot. That is when the IQ just quit and never turned back on. Been 24 hours and still nothing. The battery seems to work but, if I press on the power or reset button, it just won't work. I think it must be hardware related. Of course, since I opened the back of my IQ and put stuff in there that voids the warranty... tough luck. |

On next morning i try it again, but same. I was very angry, so i press the Power-Button often and very fast. Suddenly the IQ begins to boot and turned off again while booting. At the 5. attempt , the IQ boots completely. I reflashed the IQ. No Problems again with this effect. Sorry, my english is not good.... |

Well, I did one last thing, unplugged the battery, replugged it and tried again... and it worked! I did the same yesterday and it did not work... wierd. Anyway, I do not see the device with ADB devices or Eclipse. Suggestions? Still stuck at the click of death. Edit: the device shows up as a USB mass storage device. I seems to help from time to time... Ok... good news! I was able to find back the old dealer update and was able to reflash the firmware. My IQ now works. It seems the 2.0.3 update will not help if you ever get a problem. You really need the dealer one. I am so glad I backed up my download folder before all of this happened! Now, the road to reconstruction begins. Thanks for the help and to help me focus Oh... and NEVER put a linux-swap partition on your SD Card! I think this is what caused all of this. |

userupdate091210_common_PB701SWUPDATE.zip in 2.0.3 user.7z and dealerupdate091210_EU_PB701SWUPDATE.zip in dealerupdate091210_EU.zip. Which one you are using? |

I meant the user update. You need to use the Dealer Update in order for it to work.
