@Horus68
I'm not a big fan of redesigning the default front-end web interface of COPS. Improving? I'm all for that, but I think that the default front-end interface should be as simple and light on resources as possible. The default interface works with my very old Kobo Glo HD. Any more eye candy is a definite NO. If we want more eye candy, take a look at calibre-web, or improve on the work of @SenorSmartyPants. |

I've just updated my COPS with your fork, then switched to PHP 8 (Synology NAS), and it's working like a charm! I even took the time to modify the eink theme I'd originally created for COPS to modernize the display a bit. Great job! |

As stated by Mike the SenorSmartyPants template its already included in the fork. Same goes for the COPS 4 kindle template available from another github user. See https://github.com/mikespub-org/sebl...omment-6528832 |

It would be useful to include this fix in the fork on the main COPS branch.
https://github.com/seblucas/cops/pul...e475dcea3a6f3f This fixes the invalid OPDS which causes PocketReader on Android to fail to read the feed properly. I've manually added the patch, but others running PocketBook on Android may also run into this error, so worth fixing on the main branch. |

@electronicfur
No longer use the original COPS GitHub. It's no longer actively developed. The recent commit seems a bit of a fluke and does not change/improve the code. From now on use this fork instead https://github.com/mikespub-org/seblucas-cops. |

Thanks, I thought it was just changes for PHP8, didn't realise the fork was being developed. I'll take a look at the 1.x branch as I'm still on PHP 7.4. It's why havent looked at the fork until now.

Please help translating COPS to your language here
https://gitlocalize.com/repo/9640 (it's an easy tool, you just need your browser!) Also take a look into the new COPS with several new features here: https://github.com/mikespub-org/seblucas-cops |

Hi,
I am trying to install the new fork of cops. I used for years now the seblucas one. I understabd it is no longer supported. I would like to use the mikespub version, download the files, put it in a cops/ directory and configure it. I did an upgrade on my nas (ds418play) to bé able to install locally calibre with docker image. It created a local folder called "bibliotheque calibre" Is it possible to use this in config file or not? How to do the config modifications ? The wiki IS not really helpful. I would like a step by step. Thanks for your help ! |

COPS should use a copy of the Calibre library you want to access using COPS.
Calibre has its own server. Cops is just used when you don't use the Calibre server, as a light calibre server |

HOWTO ? Really need to use COPS to be able to access Calibre library from my readers
Quote:
I had to upgrade to DSM 7.2 I followed this tutorial: https://mariushosting.com/how-to-ins...-synology-nas/ It works fine. But I also need to access my calibre library from my readers and for that I need to use COPS. The upgrade to DSM 7.2 has modified the webstation installation. I needed to reconfigure it to use Apache 2.4 and PHP 8.2. It is now OK. So I downloaded the last version of COPS compatible with PHP 8.2 and tried to configure it. My files are located in : web/cops/ I modified the file located in config/local.php I believe it's ok but when I try to access it from my browser it doesnt shown anything. Is there something that I am missing ? configuration of the openbasedir for PHP ? How can I test ? Thank you so much for your help ! |

Are you using a renamed config_local.php from an earlier version? I got a blank page when I installed the latest 3.3.1 recently on my QNAP. Even checkconfig.php returned a blank page. I 'think' what fixed mine was creating config/local.php from scratch using the example file as a base rather than copying and renaming my old file. My old config file had been used and updated since my install of the original seblucas COPS. An upgrade to 2.8.1 (from 2.7) worked fine with the old file but something in it (or not in it?) seemed to cause problems with version 3+. Last edited by jillmess; 10-27-2024 at 08:00 PM. |

@jillmess @hugoheitz
copy ./cops/config/default.php to ./cops/config/local.php then edit ./cops/config/local.php If that does not work, report back. We will get it to work. |

BUT the readme info for updating from 2.* to 3.* says: " move your customized *config_local.php* file to *config/local.php* on the web server/container " which for me resulted in a blank page (and lots of head scratching ) Mostly ok now, but I have reported an error I get with the 'recent additions' option left at the default. @jillmess
I found that this part oft the config_local.php now local.php had changed. Code:
/* * Full URL prefix (with trailing /) * useful where a full URL is required, COPS is behind a proxy or the script name shows the wrong place * Older e-readers like Mantano, Aldiko and Marvin may require it for Opensearch too. * e.g. * $config['cops_full_url'] = '/cops/'; * $config['cops_full_url'] = 'http://localhost/cops/'; * $config['cops_full_url'] = 'http://192.168.1.xxx/cops/'; * $config['cops_full_url'] = 'https://www.domainname.com/cops/'; */ |
