I jailbroked my PW2 when it was a 5.4.0 (I guess), then updated via OTA to 5.4.3.2, it keeps the JB but the battery doesnt last the same, I feel the consuption was at leat 1.5x
the via OTA (again without intention) updated to 5.6 and anfter reinstall everyting (KUAL, Libsync and Cover Hack), it worked very good, in fact I think the battery is lasting very longer, so... what is new with the 5.6.1.0.6 FW? And the most important question: How do I test the backdoor update blocker? |

Use its KUAL menu entry to enable it. Wait for Amazon to attempt to disable all of your modifications. If the device accepts the next OTA update, the backdoor lock did not work, and please notify us. If the device does not accept the next OTA update, the backdoor lock did work. It would be nice to know about that also, but not required, since we assume things "just work" until told otherwise. |

Error installing bin files / Kvoyage
Hi,
Used the serial method, ran jb.sh (in normal mode, not in diags), all went fine, the jb certificate is in /etc/uks, looking good. However, I cannot install any bin file. Reread the OP, paying attention to the "EVEN MORE IMPORTANT notice regarding FW >= 5.6.0"
tl; dr -- Known problem, just use MR Package Installer EDIT: Ninjaed! |

@NiLuJe Thanks for the tip, KUAL works fine, but MRInstaller not. Trying to install a package such as Update_usbnet_0.19.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv.bin gives me this:

@ecostin: Ah, that's because you have a 'new' KV variant, and I missed that, my bad .
What kind of model is it (WiFi/3G), and where was it bought/shipped to? @Ruskie_it: snapshots. |

@Ruskie_it:
I am in an usually good mood this morning, so I will skip only giving the link to the FGA. Main index page of this forum - Below blue bar - Select "Tools" from the prefix drop-down box - Click "Show Threads" . The "Snapshots of NiLuJe's Hacks" will be near the top of the resulting list. |

It's a Voyage 3G+WIFI, bough in Germany a couple of months ago.
[root@kindle bin]# cut -c3-4 /proc/usid 53 The mrinstaller.sh has it: case "${kmodel}" in "13" | "54" | "2A" | "4F" | "52" | "53" ) But kindletool not, hence the error: $(echo ${ktool_output} | sed -n -r 's/^(Device)([[:blank:]]*)(.*?)(0x)([[:xdigit:]]{2})(.*?)$/\5/p') D4 5A D5 D6 D7 D8 F2 17 60 62 5F C6 13 54 |

The kindletool is the one bundled with MRInstaller, from the snapshots thread, running on the Kindle (MR Package Installer | kual-mrinstaller-1.5.N-r11698.tar.xz | 2015-Feb-26 21:35:40 | 790.9K | 82d67db5082e173e37ed7fa357f5a872 | MRPI).

@ecostin: Yup, that variant wasn't identified yet (KindleTool), but was 'expected', hence the discrepancies .
Thanks, that'll be fixed in the next round of snapshots (hopefully sometime today, once I'm done dealing with libtool silliness) . EDIT: If you're in a hurry, you can repack the current snapshots w/ KindleTool, provided KT_WITH_UNKNOWN_DEVCODES is set (to anything) in your env when you run the create step. (cf. the last few messages in the KindleTool thread for the basic repack instructions, which are basically convert && create ^^). Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-06-2015 at 10:00 AM. |
