If anyone is wondering, as I did, whether the changes in 1.8.1 would effect the 'Jacket at the end of the book' option, my initial usage indicates it doesn't.
IMO the default location for the 'jacket' should have always been at the back. Prior to the option being added to the plugin, after doing the Modify I would drag the jacket to the back in Sigil's book browser. Aside: having the change log at Github means that when I click the Plugin Homepage in calibre, as I'm wont to do before installing updates, I now have find the link to the GitHub page in post#1 and click that. Thanks for confirming that the jacket at back is unchanged as I expected.
As for the changelog - no sympathy on your one extra mouse click . It is all about minimising the time/effort I have to spend to push out releases. I edit one changelog.md file as part of making the code change, the GitHub releases notes get automatically generated for me for the notes specific to that release, and the full file is always available from the first post as you found without me having to do anything there but upload the zip. Rather than me having to also copy/paste the notes into the first post, and then also copy/paste them into a “release” post in the thread. Now that the changelog is no longer directly visible from the Plugin Updater plugin in calibre there is no point in all the extra effort of formatting/maintaining it there, and the other maintainers often “forgot” to do so at times too. In a perfect world I would also like to stop uploading the zip files to these threads too and have the Plugin Updater just grab the zip binary from Github. Sadly I didnt forsee such functionality being something I should support 12 or so years ago when I wrote it. Trying to add it to calibre now would be a bunch of effort that would still take years before we could stop needing to still upload to the plugin threads due to the majority of the users being on older calibre versions. That is the downside of that Plugin Updater plugin being directly integrated into calibre unfortunately, it can’t be independently upgraded. |

I haven't looked at code of the plugin updater. But it looks to me that the zip file is being copied from the first post to a private server (twice an hour).

Feature Request
Thank You for this wonderful plugin. I just discovered it and helped me a lot in converting to utf8 for sending to kindle via email function. However one small thing I would like to ask for. Footnotes for uploaded epub doesn't work properly. By trial and error I found that if you convert the epub to kfx first and then convert the kfx to epub again and then send them via email; it seems to work perfectly. This is obviously tedious process and unsuitable for anyone with a large library. Can you by any chance automate this conversation? Thank you in advance.

Hello, dear forum users.
I created my own jacket with a picture (my exlibris). It loads correctly when I use calibre -> polish book: but when I use Modify Epub -> Add/replace metadata jacked the image does not appear: In both cases template.xhtml is the same: Spoiler:
Is it my mistake or ME doesn't allow to insert an image? |

Don't know if this is the problem, but according to what you posted, above:
Code:
...alt="exlibris"width="55" hight="55"></div> |

Thanks, my mistake was copying and carelessly correcting the line wrapping .
This was not the cause of the problem I described. I stand by my question Last edited by klawdiv; 11-29-2022 at 02:25 PM. |

Where is (the modified) template.xhtml?
It is possible that ModifyEPUB did not use resources OR the path to the .png was relative (try a full path in the template) |

Modify ePub uses its own jacket add function and adding an image won't work. Calibre uses its internal function which works in a different way – it adds an image to the epub file and changes the link pointing to it accordingly.
That's why Polish works and ME doesn't. |

Thanks for the quick replies.
Maybe the author will make a small plugin patch? If it's not a laborious patch |

Work like charm!
Thank you so much for creating such a powerful plug-in for Calibre.
All I need or know how is on feature - "Encode HTML in UTF-8". Now, all my Kindle's ePub looks pretty now. |

I think I've found a bug in the current version. It's not removing the Google page maps. I hope this is an easy fix.

Jon, another post showed those as self closing .
Is there 2 flavors? Is a self closing Anchor valid? |

So THOSE are Google Play page maps. I didn't realize that's what they were. But, it turns out that, like Jon, I have the option to Remove Page Maps, which, if I'm reading the description correctly, is supposed to:

Also, Calibre and this mod seem to fight over the change between self-closing tags and non-self-closing tags for Epub3. Last edited by enuddleyarbl; 03-10-2023 at 07:03 PM. |
