Connects with MacOSX but not with Win7
Quote:
I just checked out the latest IOSRA with Calibre 2.5 on my Mac and it connected my iPhone 4s to Calibre, however I could not get this to work on Win7. With Win7 as soon as I plug in the iPhone I get the pop up message "Unable to connect to iDevice". |

Also a problem with Calibre 1.48?
On my Mac (latest OS) I started Calibre 1.48, uninstalled both IOSRA and Marvin XD, the reinstalled them, then connected my iPhone 4s which is running IOS 8. I the received the same "Unable to connect to iDevice" message. I am running IOS7 on an iPad and can still connect to Calibre 1.48 on the Mac using that device. The iPad also connects to Calibre 2.5.0 on Win7.

Let me quote from the very first post in this thread:
- Open iTunes Preferences (OS X and Windows). In the Devices section, enable the checkbox Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically. Close iTunes. - Disconnect all iDevices from your computer before installing or updating the plugin. You guys did both, right? |

I have exactly the same problem as described by Montana in post no. 150, with the cascading messages saying "Unable to connect to iDevice".
My setup is identical as well. Win 7 64, latest versions of IOS, Marvin and the plugin. I am just posting this to add that I checked and the same thing occurs on 3 different IOS 8 Ipads (Mini Retina, Air, and the model before the Air), in combination with both my desktop and my laptop (both with the same setup). Before the upgrade to IOS 8 everything worked perfectly fine on all combinations of devices. |

Totally lost! I have the iPad connected to the Mac. Marvin indicates that it is ready to refresh, I click on refresh, applet appears that calibre connector is ready and slowly floats on the screen of the iPad. In caibre I can not see the device being connected and the library on the Marvin app on the iPad is not changing.

mkalman, the library on the iPad won't change on its own; you need to make changes to it using the Marvin XD plugin in Calibre. Do you have that installed? If so, you should see a button for it pop up on your menu bar when your iPad is connected to your computer.

Hi, I am trying to sort this out.
I recently (yesterday) updated my ipad mini to iOS 8.0.2 and went to connect to calibre with using Marvin with no luck. I updated calibre thinking this could be an issue but still no joy. Checked my plugins and have both marvin (updated) and reinstalled the iOS reader applications plugin (somehow it wasn't there) and this is what I keep getting: calibre, version 2.5.0 ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>ImportError</b>:No module named PyQt4 calibre 2.5 [64bit] isfrozen: True is64bit: True Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE') ('Windows', '7', '6.1.7601') Python 2.7.8 Windows: ('7', '6.1.7601', 'SP1', 'Multiprocessor Free') Successfully initialized third party plugins: DeDRM && Marvin XD && iOS reader applications && Barnes & Noble Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\dialogs\plugin_updater.py", line 789, in _configure_clicked File "site-packages\calibre\customize\__init__.py", line 152, in do_user_config File "calibre_plugins.ios_reader_apps.__init__", line 493, in config_widget File "site-packages\calibre\customize\zipplugin.py", line 179, in load_module File "calibre_plugins.ios_reader_apps.config", line 26, in <module> File "C:\Users\Helen\AppData\Roaming\calibre\plugins\iO S_reader_applications_resources\widgets\main_ui.py ", line 10, in <module> ImportError: No module named PyQt4 ...and no my ipad mini is not connected to the computer (windows 7). Please help - I'm sure it's an easy fix for someone |

The QT4 error in post 164 says your PI is not Calibre2.x compatible (Calibre 2.x uses QT5)
Update the PI named if available. or Go back to Calibre 1.48 (you will not be able to use any newer function or devices) |

It actually means he/she switched between 2.x and 1.x which is easily fixed: Go to Preferences | Advanced | Plugins | Device Interface plugins, select iOS reader applications. Click Remove plugin. Click Apply. Go to Preferences | Advanced | Miscellaneous, click Open calibre configuration directory. Open the plugins folder. Delete iOS reader applications.json. Delete the iOS_reader_applications_resources folder. Restart calibre. Then try installing the plugin(s) again. |
