[QUOTE=Harmon;1741086]You need the 3G version for GPS or location to work. And it works pretty well even without a simcard. It must be able to use the cellular towers anyway.

It can't use the towers without service. However those are only needed for the "assisted" feature, which reduces the time it takes to get a GPS lock during a cold startup. Last edited by Dylrob; 09-15-2011 at 05:49 PM. |

But my point was that even if you do not want to pay for 3G data it is worth to get the 3G model anyway. |

I know this sounds old school, but there are other devices than smart phones and tablets.... Or is being in the "In crowd" so important? |

What happens between "see it on your PC" and "when you're done"?

Maybe at the 10" model level, but the variety of smaller cheaper models will sell more collectively than the iPads will at some point. It won't make any money for those companies, but Google will then have bragging rights in the phone and the tablet market.

Agreed. I don't really understand why people get so emotional and argumentative about the purchase of electronics. Get whatever best suits your needs and meets your requirements and don't worry about what others say.

The reason is probably that this method was not used. They bought it because it was cool or other people bought it. Then there is a need to rationalize.
