I don't know if all are aware of this (I haven't seen it mentioned here.....) but Endeavour Press issue (usually) 6 or (occasionally) 9 free books per week as epubs. Many (though not all) come well within the definition of the thread title.

Those that have d/l Endeavour books from this thread will know the sort of stuff available, but it seems that none of our regular contributors access this list on a regular basis.

All you need to do is to go here:

http://endeavourpress.com/

and the home page will invite you to sign up for the free newsletters (usually 2/3 per week in total)

Hope this helps someone: it's rare I don't d/l at least one per week........

Free on Amazon UK - Feeling Bad (Anna McColl Mystery Book 2) by Penny Kline

Spoiler:
Anna McColl has been telling lies…

She told her patient, Luke Jesty, that his violent fantasies were nothing to worry about.

She told her boss that Luke was stable.

And when the police called her, telling her that one of Luke’s friends had been killed, Anna lied to them as well.

So when Luke goes missing, Anna must solve the case herself and get to the bottom of what really happened.

Did Paula really fall into the path of traffic…or did Luke act out one of his own fantasies?

Luke’s parents are no help at all, but Luke’s brother Michael is only too eager to lend a hand.

As Michael and Anna grow closer and Anna learns more of Luke’s past, it seems less and less likely that she will ever see her patient again.

And more and more likely that he’s gone on the run…

Free on Amazon UK - Budapest My Love by Anthony Steyning

Spoiler:
The long road back to yourself…

It’s late October 1989, only a matter of weeks before the destruction of communism and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Tristan, a former east-block journalist currently holed up in London, runs into an eccentric American doctor, Dr Jonathan Blul.

The Hungarian’s trials and tribulations fascinate the good doctor, particularly his insider views on communism.

It’s not long after Tristan arrives in London that he realises the West is not all it promised to be – he cannot find a job anywhere and there are few prospects for someone of his ethnicity.

Amidst his own inertia and his constant doubts, he longs for his native Budapest.

When it finally becomes safe enough for him to go back, Tristan longs to return to his homeland.

But deep down he needs to atone, to deserve his return.

Who doesn’t want to come home in triumph?

An act of liberation is required, and it involves taking down Tristan’s greatest nemesis – a corrupt Chilean broadcaster who badly humiliated him in the past.

Eager to help, Dr Blul and his companion, a Chinese lady who is a patient of his, accompany Tristan on the first leg of his journey home.

The trio quickly form a strong bond – a wider Jules et Jim – and it’s not long before feelings of love begins to develop amongst their constant teasing and cultural bickering.

With the help of his new friends, the winding road home also becomes a path to finding himself.

Free on Amazon UK - In the Dead of Winter by Abby Pen Baker (repeat freebie)

Spoiler:
1918, Northampton, Massachusetts.

Faye Tullis and her friend, Rachel White, two students at Smith University, are arrested after attending a lively suffragette rally.

Things start to get out of hand, and the police arrive. The two girls are arrested, and spend the night in jail, where they meet a tall and imposing woman, who imperiously demands to be released.

When her freedom is denied, she suddenly and inexplicably falls ill…

Faye is therefore doubly surprised when she attends a class on logic the next morning to find this lady at the front of the class, introducing herself as ‘Dr. Myrl Adler Norton’, a professor of logic.

She astonishes the class with her ability to deduce personal information about them from the minutest details…

Rachel’s flat is broken into in suspicious circumstances. When Rachel called out to her landlady, Alyssa Dansen, a mysterious recluse, she only hears a strained voice in reply…

Myrl and Faye rush to the flat to investigate and the situation is far worse than they imagined… Alyssa Dansen is seen from the window, a ghostly figure, staring straight out ahead of her...

When they find her they realise someone has slit her throat, drained all her blood, and stuffed her with sawdust – and it is unclear how long she has been sitting, lifeless, at her window, staring out at the world with blank glass eyes.

Faye is soon swept up in Myrl’s plan to find the killer herself. However, the more she gets involved with Myrl, the more she finds there are troubling elements to her new friend’s personal life…

What is the terrible affliction that Myrl seems to suffer from? What is the real story behind Myrl’s parentage? And could the answer prove relevant to Myrl’s new found aptitude for detective work?

‘In the Dead of Winter’ is a gripping historical crime featuring Irene Adler’s daughter detective.

Free on Amazon UK - The Gold Gamble (A Norma and Alexander Gold Thriller Book 5) by Herbert Resnicow

Spoiler:
Somehow, the show must go on…

Norma Gold and her friend Pearl are co-producing a Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls , with the help of Maxwell Sapphire, who hasn’t had a hit in four years.

Alexander Gold and Burton Hanslik have invested $2.5 million in the show, so Norma and Pearl are under pressure to make it a winner!

There are always problems in the theatre.

And Sapphire is determined for his mistress, Lisa Terrane, to star in a role on which rests the whole show…

But Norma and Pearl force him to star an old school friend of Norma’s, Carol Sands, instead, but to placate Sapphire, Lisa Terrane is made Carol’s understudy.

Then, three days before the critics’ preview, Lisa Terrane is found cruelly murdered in her dressing room.

And Carol Sands is the only person on the floor at that time…

Burton persuades Lieutenant Warshafsky to hold off arresting his star until the critics’ preview night.

The night of the preview Warshafsky suddenly announces that he must arrest Carol at once and Alexander finds himself in a race against time to save Carol, the show, his wife, his money and his pride.

Free on Amazon UK - Deadly Rendezvous (A Dr Josiah Bartlett Mystery Book 2) by Daniel Bjork

Spoiler:
Mid-19th century America.

The respectable residents of the sleepy town of Concord, Massachusetts are rocked by a second murder within the Chase family.

Three years after the drowning of wild child Mary by her own father, later found dead in Boston, Henry Chase’s wife Sarah is discovered in a pool of blood with her throat slit.

And her two remaining children missing.

The sickening discovery is made by widowed local physician, Josiah Bartlett, a man who reveals as large an appetite for detective work as for the sumptuous cooking of his daughter Hannah.

The Doctor is warned previously by the town sheriff not to stick his nose into lawmen’s work.

But he is nevertheless determined to solve the mystery of who could have carried out such a diabolical crime – and to the same family.

After all, he had secured the confession from Henry Chase that he had indeed murdered his daughter – and bludgeoned a fellow Concordian to death.

And Josiah had just managed to escape with his life when Chase had come after him with a sledgehammer.

The doctor draws a startling conclusion to the latest carnage, but soon finds that Hannah has rather more than culinary talents – that’s it is more a case of like father, like daughter.

They soon realise they are up against a force of evil that is seemingly inhuman – perhaps unstoppable.

Could the missing children still be alive?

Where in the world will the trail of clues lead them?

Can they really trap a killer who is a master of disguise and on the verge of insanity?

Sorry, grandmothers and eggs and all that.

I knew you, Mort, had your handle on Endeavour, but not specifically from that source..... And unless you are TOTALLY committed to that list as a Whole, you won't necessarily post all the six every week if you consider them irrelevant to this thread?

Is that right, Mort??
