If you are talking about the holding the screen to page turn rapidly? That’s kfx only which kcc doesn’t support.
If you are talking about the grid of 9 pages features, I feel that feature disappeared in a firmware update and my old files don’t do it anymore. |

I mean the one that appears right next to the 9 page grid, that shows the image smalles and has a slider on the bottom. The first two files I made with KCC still work perfectly with it, but all the new ones don't. The preview only appears blank and nothing happend when you try to change pages with the arrows. The slider works but it's also kind of finicky and tends to be imprecise.

Did you switch to png? It doesn’t work for me with png.
I only use mozjpeg on kindle scribe. |

Yes! Just did my own test right now before receiving your reply, looks like PNG is the problem. It works great with JPG but the not PNG. Don't know if this is an issue with KCC or the Kindle itself. I still think I'll stay with the PNG anyway because doing this test I confirmed that the dithering quality is WAY better with PNG, even if the source itself are JPG images.

More details related to png issues with kindle scribe:

Uploaded a quick video showcasing the results of KCC on a Kindle DX (2010) and a Kindle Scribe (2022) vs a real volume:

Made a special version of KCC that doesn't require `7z`, using `tar` instead for extracting which is built into macOS since 2009 and Windows 10 since 2017.
https://github.com/axu2/kcc/releases/tag/v6.0.0-tar This is especially important on macOS, since installing homebrew and Xcode to install 7z is a lot to ask for a new user. (Of course, if tar isn't available then it still asks for 7z as fallback.) Last edited by axu2; 05-25-2024 at 10:13 PM. |

Are you able to use the full resolution of the scribe or are we still limited to 1440x1920? |

But the height is still limited to 1920. So the 1860 change is only relevant for square-ish images. Any updates will be here: https://github.com/ciromattia/kcc/issues/460 Last edited by axu2; 05-30-2024 at 12:36 PM. |

Thank you for your fast reply
It really is a shame, that Amazon is so slow in updating their tools to fully support the capabilities of the Scribe. For now, my route to get a somewhat sharp result is KCC -> CBZ for cropping and landscape rotation and Calibre -> PDF. There are minimal borders and page turn isn't as fast but resolution looks fine. Is there any merrit using the Kojirou Tools to create AZW3 files to get native res support? |

Unless there's an undocumented command line parameter that allows max size, like described in the GH issue. I'd welcome you to try one of the 3rd party tools that don't use kindlegen, AZW3 is probably faster than pdf. And report the results, I’m curious. Last edited by axu2; 06-02-2024 at 02:59 PM. |

output file is big and process is slow
as the title, I usually convert from jpeg to mobi and the process took so long and the output file is just too big for my kindle. Is there anything I can change so the process is less slow and the output file is smaller

And the size of the file you are converting with an approximate page count. And the size of your current output. Make sure you don't do PNG output or HQ panel view output, those can make big files/take really long. Don’t accidentally check “disable processing” Maybe reference the kcc tutorial video a post above. Maybe play with the output split option. Last edited by axu2; 06-08-2024 at 01:55 AM. |
