v.11.1 | Update 6 Feb 2024
Seven years and one day after the last update, here come some minor changes: I have checked Jacob’s Room against my copy of the first edition (reprinted in November 1922) and documented all variants. As usual, they are hidden in the code.

Great seeing you still around! Even a minor upgrade to your Woolf for the ages deserves major appreciation. Thanks.

This is staggeringly wonderful and far more accurate than anything else out there. For example, no one else seems to have noticed the typo "commerical" for "commercial" in Mrs. Dalloway. Amazing!
One small suggestion: in 09dalloway2.htm, the emendation in line 542 that inserts a period after hear her) may not be needed. The syntax of the sentence seems to say something like "The ... girl ... exclaimed ... Of course, of course" - with the upper-case O signifying the start of what she said, not a new sentence. The rest of the sentence seems to run on in an ungrammatical stream-of-consciousness way, continuing the first part of the sentence in a way that makes psychological sense, even it isn't grammatical. The emendation makes it grammatical, but it also stops the sentence after "exclaimed" without letting the sentence say what she exclaimed. This is as trivial as can be. The whole publication is a magnificent achievement. Thank you for it. |

And here's a minor error in Mrs Dalloway, p. 120, 3 lines up in your source edition. Your text has a comma in

You’re right, it’s a scanning error, thanks again.

And another extremely minor correction to Mrs Dalloway. In the paragraph on p. 219, the third and fourth impression hyphenate "side-board" in the line "the side-|board remained to him." But the first and second printings (and the earlier instance of "sideboard" in the same paragraph) do not hyphenate the word, and so the hyphen probably should be removed from your text. (The third printing adds the "to", forcing the line to break.)
It's a sign of how amazingly accurate your text is that these are the only things that call for correction... |

Sorry again - I screwed up my message. The misplaced hyphen is in "and the side-|board" not the earlier sideboard in the same paragraph.

One more trivial correction to Mrs. Dalloway. The punctuation following "whisper a word to Maisie Johnson" should be a semi-colon, not a comma.
I've been working with scanned texts, and haven't been able to approach your amazing level of accuracy. |
