Origins of PD texts?
Does it matter where you get a PD text from?
Are PD texts that are sold subject to copyright laws? This is assuming they contain no unique elements like introductions or notes. |

It depends. If a non-trivial amount of formatting work has gone into a commercial publication of a PD work, for example, then in some countries at least it is subject to what's called a "typographical copyright", which lasts for 25 years from the date of publication.
