Ich weiß nicht wie Schwarzenegger damit "zunächst 300 bis 400 Millionen Dollar einsparen" will, denn eigentlich ist die Umstellung (Anschaffung der Geräte, Aufbereitung der digitalen Schulbücher) ja auch erstmal eine ganz schön große Investition. Das Einsparpotential scheint mir eher mittel- und langfristig zu sein. Die Idee an sich ist aber zukunftsweisend und wird hoffentlich "Schule machen".

Ja, ich halte das auch für eine gute Idee.
Leider wird das im Konjunkturpaket für deutsche Schulen nicht berücksichtigt. Wenn ich mir ansehe, mit wieviel kg Papier die Schultaschen unserer Kinder überladen werden, dann hat der Einsatz von eReadern auch einen gesundheitlichen Vorteil um Haltungsschäden zu vermeiden. Besonders die Verkürzung der Gymnasial-Schulzeit sorgt für immer mehr Campusschulen (Ganztagsschulen). Da werden die Schultaschen noch schwerer, denn neben Papier muß die Ernährung ebenfalls mitgeschleppt werden weil die erforderlichen Schulkantinen oftmals immer noch fehlen. |

Bis jetzt gibt es ja noch nicht einmal eine billige farbige E-Ink Technik. Aber ich denke das Farbe doch eine recht wichtige Rolle bei vielen Schulbüchern spielt. Also wird sich das wohl nocht etwas verzögern.
Oder sollen die e-Books auf Laptops gelesen werden? |

Die Idee finde ich richtig, jedoch viel zu früh. Man sollte der Technik noch ein wenig Zeit lassen, bis, wie von Josch91 erwähnt, farbige E-Ink Displays in angemessener Preisklasse verfügbar sind und evt. auch, bis die man die Displays durch widerstandsfähiger Kunststoffgläser anstatt der augenblicklich verwendeten Glasplatten ersetzt. Schließlich sind die Bilder in Schulbüchern nicht so unwichtig, da es angeblich den Lernerfolg um (glaube ich mich zu erinnern^^) ca 30% erhöht.
