K4 MailPush - how to email books to Kindle in 2024?

I recently discovered MailPush (Chinese Github, my English fork), which seems to offer a more decentralised way for me to email myself docs, my Mum devotional lessons, etc. without logging in to Amazon or depending on them to convert my docs to Amazon formats. I use KOReader, so would rather keep them as docx.

Though it sounds amazing, I have had absolutely no luck getting it to work. All menu options give me "/tmp/klauncher_background-803463509291224482.sh: line 2: mailpush.sh: not found", as tested on 2 different Kindles, my own K4 and a friend's Kindle Basic 3 I was setting up.

Can anyone advise on how to get this tool working? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Most of the other tools by Guo Yong Zhi work perfectly as far as I can tell; his Filebrowser for Kindle is amazing, and the menu entries seem to be fairly standard...

What are the files in the mailpush directory in the extensions directory on your kindles?
(The instructions on github are vague and the releases are not in a form convenient for installation in KUAL.)

The installation is quite simple. Just unpack and put the files under the extensions folder.

I have no interest in installing or using mailpush. I am trying to help diagnose the problem posted by Darthagnon.

"/tmp/klauncher_background-803463509291224482.sh: line 2: mailpush.sh: not found" seems like a text encoding issue. Did you upload the source files using the Web FileBrowser? If so, you can open and edit the 'mailpush.sh' script in the Web FileBrowser and copy-paste the right content into it. Alternatively, you can try to install the extension via USB.

I copied the files across via USB, though having edited them in Notepad++ on Windows, I don't know whether that made a difference to encoding?

I have since tested your latest updates, and the software tries to work, rather than failing invisibly, but still doesn't download emails. I'll keep testing. Thank you for the update that seems to have somewhat fixed it.

Edit the scripts on windows may change the line endings from LF to CRLF. I believe that is the point.
Both the untouched old version and the new version should function properly.

Bad news. Outlook will restrict the public IMAP access. The internet is becoming increasingly closed, in the name of security. We may need to find another mailbox that easy to configure.

probably not the best place to ask, though figured I'd try: I just jailbroke my PW5 using winterbreak and have KOreader working well. The one thing I'd like to get working too is MailPush so I can wirelessly send kfx files to the PW5. I'm struggling to get python3 to install properly on the kindle, and suspect the underlying OS has changed too much to support the python3 bins found in the snapshot. Any thoughts on how to get python3 install to succeed? You can see my post for the mrinstaller logs.
