Does it work by chance if you have 'Dictionary on single word selection' enabled? The setting is in the top menu, Settings (gear), Taps and gestures >, Long-press on text >.

Then just long-press on any word in the book and the dictionary should open.
I had set it to 'Ask with popup dialog', when I set it back to 'Dictionary' the word becomes gray for a second then a pop up appears with 'Not Available' and 'No results'.

It looks correct and this should definitely yield a result. Can you show a screenshot of the /koreader/data/dict/ directory from your Android file manager?

Sure, they're supposed to be in folders in /koreader/data/dict/ right?

Yes, it's all correct. I just realized what the problem is. There was a bug recently with the Android release, where dictionary look-ups stopped working. Updating to the latest nightly version should fix it. In the update settings, switch Update channel to 'Development' and then select 'Check for updates' and run an over-the-air update.

Is there an image-compatible dictionary format that works on KOReader?

Stardict HTML with base64-encoded images is probably the easiest method. For Stardict HTML with image file paths you might need to write a custom adaptation function.

Thank you.
I didn't know about base64-encoded images.
When you say custom function, you're probably talking about this?
Would you have an existing dictionary with images as an example for me to use as inspiration? Thank you.

Edit:
I really don't understand StarDict dictionaries. As soon as my source file is more complicated than a simple tab file, I'm lost with PyGlossary. I've created dictionaries in this way in the past.
But today I'd really like to understand how to create a StarDict HTML file with css style and images. My tests and trials bring me nothing but frustration, because I can't get anywhere.

The wiki you linked actually includes an image sample (from <rref[^>]*>), also see https://github.com/koreader/koreader...ent-1874484304

It depends on what the image link in the original looks like. I'm not sure I have a proper sample dictionary at hand.

It is only available on Android. Kobo doesn’t have external dictionary apps at all. Use KOReader’s dictionary system instead

Well, KOReader dict system doesn’t have my language (actually it has, but once I downloaded it the dict didn’t work). So I have to install sideload

Can someone please help. I look on file manager in KOReader in koreader\data\ , there’s no folder “dict” there.

Edit: I have already copy stardict into dict folder but the folder is hidden in koreader
