It's subtle —I get an outline of the dictionary box. It's cumulative, so if I keep opening the dictionary, more lines are apparent (because the dictionary opens at the top or bottom depending on where the highlight is located).

It's hard to show in pictures, but here's an example.

That sounds like it might be a bug with the new device firmware. Maybe you should report it to Kobo?

Hello !

Request if possible : Make the brightness slider on the display's edge less sensitive (the vertical slider you can use when reading, not the one in the proper brightness menu).

Motivation : On my Libra 2 when reading in bed I either use 4% or 2% brightness, depending on ambiant light. However, I find it very difficult to set the value accurately when sliding on the edge to set the brightness. Most of the time, the smallest increment I can manage is by 3%, and if I try to make even shorter swipes then I'll likely highlight some text instead.
As a result, I often resort to using the proper brightness menu with the +/- 1% buttons.

Side note : I haven't used KoReader in a while (and never on my Libra 2) but IIRC, the slider on the display's edge was less sensitive on it, making it a lot easier to set precise values with it. This leads me to believe it might be possible to fix in Nickel.

P.S : Thank you to everyone involved in making Kobo Patches. They offer massive improvements and make it possible to enjoy Nickel without being frustrated by the lack of customisation.

Hi. Thank you for developing these patches. Many of these have been helpful to me on my new Kobo. I was wondering if there was a patch where the names of items on the bottom menu on the home screen could be shortened ('My Books' to 'Books,' 'My Notebooks' to 'Notes')? I was able to do this for the Nickelmenu link, but I'm not sure how to accomplish this with the others. I have to use a larger font for the UI due to my eyesight, so the words of the links are too close together.

Going by various posts by @geek1011, they are rather busy with real life and have not had the time to spend on updating the Kobo patches/patcher.

Here the patch is not needed, because there is too much to change. And everyone will wish for something of their own It is wiser to do this in .qm file.

If only on the home screen, it's simple. But where did you find My Notebooks there? Which firmware does My Notebooks have on the home screen?

i know... i'm just really curious. since i the actual one is my first reader and realized what a piece of tech is this. and as i see patches can improve it a lot. also i am working on a translation and sadly it is hard to check/catch up/test without updated files and tools.

Any of the Kobo ereaders that support stylus use for note taking.

It's clear. I can try to make a patch that will change these two words on the home screen. But it's somehow wrong. It's better to change everywhere, but only Мy Books are found 15 pieces So it's better to change in .qm

Request ability to extend red shift range farther than whatever the default is, ideally to 1000 color temperature. If 1000 isn’t possible due to hardware limitations, then obtain ability to extend to hardware limit.

You could try editing the Kobo eReader.conf to change the setting to ColorSetting=1000 to see if it makes any difference though as per my earlier reply to you, the only Kobo that had independent RGB LEDs was the Aura One.

Ok thanks, and also I didnt intend to double post, I tried to edit my message to fix the broken link, but no edit button was avaliable. No idea why. I figured if i added the link as dp, mod team would merge posts

Yes and understood about the hardware limitation, im wondering if the current setting maximizes hardware limit. Even on an iphone, the default redshift value is not red, you have to mess with color settings to extend temp

I would love to export highlights ordered by place in the book as opposed to time of highlight creation.

The patch targets a link to api.kobobooks.com to stop the firmware update check from working.

The notes in libnickel.so.1.0.0.yaml warn that the patch is dangerous, as it can cause a boot loop if you do a factory reset. If we know what the update URL is, would it be equally effective to redirect api.kobobooks.com in the hosts file to block firmware updates without the bootloop risk associated with the patch, or would that cause negative side effects? The only reference to api.kobobooks.com in libnickel.so.1.0.0 seems to be for the update check.

Original developer of this patch here. This can't be done, host files can only block FQDNs and not URLs. Meaning doing so would blacklist the whole kobo API and not just the update URL path.

And you won't turn into a bootloop unless you factory reset the device on purpose. Patching a firmware is already dangerous in itself, this is just part of the game. I've been using my own patch over the last 4 months on two devices without a single issue.
