Calibre EPUBs cause errors during upload to "epubli"
HI,
I use calibre for converting Windows DOCXs to EPUB an publish them by using the German publish agent "epubli.de". All the times when I send uploads I get long lists of errors. How can I avoid this? (please see attached screenshot) Thank you! Regards Marco |

The thing to do is install the epubcheck plugin for calibre. It is an editor plugin. After that, load the ePub in the calibre editor and run epucheck to see what the errors are. You can click on the error and go the the line where the error is.

Given a couple of the error messages in your screenshot, you are using role="doc-noteref" which is an ePub3 feature in an ePub2 ebook. A quick conversion to ePub3 of your attached file using Sigil removed the error message related to role.

Hello from Germany,
I have the same issue: When I convert my file from .docx to epube with Calibre it automatically uses role="doc-noteref" for the endnotes in code. But I can not upload it with this 'feature' to epubli.de because it is "not allowed in epub2". When I convert to epub 3 instead, the answer from epubli.de is: "we only accept ebub2 files and not ebub3 due to comaptibliy reasons". :-( For me it is funny from Calibre to automatically use a feature of epub3 when I just want to convert to epub2. Is there any way to get rid of that? Could I just delete it in the code? I am not that much of an expert with coding. Thanks a lot! See https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...e-is-not-valid
Yes you can delete them. It will degrade the reading experience a little, you may not get popup footnotes in some epub viewers as aresult. |
