Weird this http://data.boox.com/api/1/firmware/update?where={"buildNumber":0,"buildType":"user"," deviceMAC":"","fingerprint":"","lang":"en_US","mod el":"NoteAir2P","submodel":""}
still shows 3.5 update and not 3.5.1 as on device. |

Full update now available for Note2AirP - http://data.boox.com/api/1/firmware/update?where={%22buildNumber%22:0,%22buildType%22: %22user%22,%22deviceMAC%22:%22%22,%22fingerprint%2 2:%22%22,%22lang%22:%22en_US%22,%22model%22:%22Not eAir2P%22,%22submodel%22:%22%22}
For those who rooted, u would need to retrieve new boot.img and patch it again via Magisk and then repeat the earlier instructions. |

You'll have to restore boot.img to the stock, unrooted image to update, then re-root. |

Sorry, I don't have it for the NoteAir2P. I don't have that model, I have a NoteAir3. You might still have the stock image on your alternate slot, i.e. if your current boot slot is a, slot b might have the stock image depending on what you did when you originally rooted.
Also, you can try Magisk, Uninstall Magisk, Restore Images. Magisk may have a copy of the stock image. |

Install the update completely. Only that way are the kernel mods and the kernel guaranteed to be consistent. You can download the update to the desktop and push the still encrypted update.upx to /sdcard. Code:
am start -a onyx.settings.action.firmware |

fastboot: error: Command failed
Did you have any luck? Sadly after updating the firmware (after booting an unpatched boot.img) fastboot gives me an error:
$ fastboot boot magisk_patched-27000_rZYnH.img Sending 'boot.img' (98304 KB) OKAY [ 3.111s] Booting FAILED (remote: 'unknown command') fastboot: error: Command failed Does anyone have an idea how to proceed further or what's the reason fastboot failes now? |

I'm sure of this because we've been seeing it a lot. The point that I am unsure about is where this person works, at Google or Onyx. You still have alternatives:

Ad EDL: do you mean the loader ./edl/Loaders/qualcomm/factory/sdm662/0014d0e100000000_d40eee56f3194665_FHPRG.bin I used from https://github.com/bkerler/edl (cf. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...4&postcount=33 )? Ad dd command: is there an easy way one would gain a root shell on an unrooted device? Thanks! |

Usually, the standard/easy way to get root is with Magisk.
You can pull the boot image from either an update or directly off the device using EDL. Then install the Magisk app, use it to modify your copy of the boot image. Finally, install that copy using EDL. The procedure is basically the same on all Onyx. Just look at the thread on Poke5. |

Hi, would it be possible to link to a specific thread or write out the specific commands used? I've tried to have a go at the forums, but there's a lot of commands thrown around and I'm not sure where to begin looking (especially as I don't want to end up with a very expensive brick).
For booting to fastbookd I've run the following: adb reboot bootloader fastboot reboot fastboot Which gave me a list of options - though I have no idea how to proceed about flashing the modified img file to recovery. |
