I'm guessing Windows 11 doesn't have the C library dependency you can download from the link (in an earlier post). I definitely know that I was able to install the Nook App in Windows 11 but I did install the libraries that you can download at the same link.

I didn't know that. That might be a good reason to keep using Calibre 6.x — or can this feature be disabled?

What's Quality Check? Something that can be run in Linux?

For what it may be worth, if you download the VCLibs Redistributable Packages, open the downloaded .zip file and extract and install the Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00_12.0.21005.1_x86__8wekyb3d 8bbwe.appx package, that is the one needed to install the Nook app package downloaded from the Adguard supplied link (it's an x86 package so needs the VC x86 library installed).

I tested this on a fresh Windows 11 install in a virtual machine.

Quality Check is a calibre plugin. One of it's ePub options is to check for DRM.

So does it matter which one I download first?

It won't matter which you download first, but you'll need to install the library file before the Nook App (which won't install if the library dependency is not met).

2. Copy and paste the link the Microsoft store used for the Nook app in the search field and click the check mark:
https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9wzdncrfj33h

3. There should be a list of files. You want the one named:
BarnesNoble.Nook_1.11.0.4_x86__ahnzqzva31enc.appx

It's 50.94 MB in size. I right clicked on the link, then "save link as" to save a copy to my hard drive.

4. Double-click on the file to install. (Scan the file with your security software and/or upload it to VirusTotal if you're at all concerned about the source. Everything was clean when I did this in February.)

5. Open the Nook app. Log into your B&N account and download your books to your library.

6. To find the epubs on your computer, make sure hidden files are shown in Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\"YourUsername"\App Data\Local\Packages\BarnesNoble.Nook_ahnzqzva31enc \LocalState

The epub files will have random numbers for the names.

7. If the files are DRM-protected, you should be able to drop them in Calibre with the proper plugins and free them. I'm not too savvy in that department, but others should be able to point you in the right direction if you have any questions there.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
Hello, I was able to install the x64 and x86 Visual C++ packages (well, the x86 one intially gave me an error about there being additional data, or something? but then the x64 one installed fine and I tried installing x86 again and it seemed to install fine then) and the Nook app via these instructions on W11, but when I went to download book(s), it gives me an error saying "A connection to the internet is not available. Please check your network connection and try again" despite the fact that I have a connection and the Nook app can obviously use it since it shows books, including the sample(s) I have I'm trying to download in the user interface and it let me sign in.

Has anybody else had this issue?

Today, I tried to download the Adguard file for my new PC. it would not download no matter how many times I double clicked on it. Maybe I will try again tomorrow...

That link (https://store.rg-adguard.net/) just gets you to the site. To download the files you need to enter this link in the search bar after going there...

Code:
https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9wzdncrfj33h
I was able to download the file just now (after bypassing the "potential security risk" warning). So, for me, nothing has changed.

Still does not download for me. I made sure my Firewall was off. This is on the Windows 11 PC.

_arm_ or _x64_ Is that correct? can I delete them from the downloaded, extracted file?

Ok. You lost me. What does "need to install the library file" mean? which library file? Where is it? are you talking about the file with Nook formatted books that I downloaded? What about the Kindle books?

On my new PC, all I have done is install Calibre.

what do I do next?

For the old PC?
1. Backup the Hash Code so I can import it to the new PC.
2. Install Quality check to make sure the books open.
3. not sure how to get the books to the new PC. ????

My ex-S-I-L tinkered with my PC and he created a network?? An old (HP) laptop is connected via ethernet to router, and is being used as a Plex movie server. That old laptop has two 8TB external hard drives connected to it full time. (1 for Plex movies and 1 for my laptop backups.) The old laptop is not used for anything else.

A newer laptop/tablet (Sony Tap 20) (still very old) is networked to that older HP laptop wirelessly so I can watch movies on my Tap 20 and wirelessly do backups, file sharing, etc.

So now I have the new laptop (Acer) that is NOT networked, and I have spent the last week trying to add the new Acer laptop. I have no idea how to add it to the network. I have tried everything from the Microsoft website, but I get stuck when it asks for some code for Microsoft. I have no idea what he used. I tried entering my Microsoft user name and password, but that did not work. If I could get the new laptop networked with the old Tap 20, I could use the two external hard drives to hold my ebooks.

Is this the correct order? For the new PC.
1. Install calibre.
2. install plugins.
3. Install Quality Check.
4. Install Kindle for Windows.
5. ???? Move ebooks to the new laptop.
6. ???? Move that Hashtag file (Nook) to new laptop?

Thanks if anyone can straighten me out on what to do.
