By setting "Google Images" as the only metadata source, and clicking "Download only covers", I've noticed the same thing happen with various titles: first try, nothing. second time, nothing. third time, cover is found and downloaded! Sometimes just a second attempt is enough. At first I thought this could be something related to Calibre user agents randomising, however from looking at the logs, I'd guess that's something else: Spoiler:
Same user agent, one attempt failed, the other succeeded. Two different titles in the above logs. And below are two attempts with different UAs and same title: Spoiler:

Intermittent issues where results are not found, are most likely because google is A/B testing a new website layout. Once it stabilizes the plugin can be updated.

Sadly, several times in this thread, it was mentioned that the issue was with using the Google Images metadata source. "neither Google Images nor Kindle High-Res are working" for instance.

Darn. I was also getting the same error message and just did that fix. Hoping it would help others.

Reading the thread before posting an answer is always a good move.

An other way to get a cover is: open the Metadata of your book. Then open the book by clicking on the epub-file itself and then, after opening. Right mouse: you can choose: open cover, in the menu that appears. I download it and then use that cover. It's always a good cover, because sometimes the covers are not excellent or to small.

To fix the Kindle Hi-Res download, you need to find the eBook on Amazon and copy the ASIN.
In the edit metadata requestor find the IDs field. Put in asin: B0BWM73WSM Of course use the correct ASIN as that's just an example. If there is a hi-res cover, it will be downloaded. |
