It's a toolbar item because I asked for keyboard shortcut to pop it.

If I had my druthers there'd be a preference that disabled clicking on column headers, the keys I use for View Manager->Reapply current view are worn through

Question: What's the best way to move a large library between two computers? (Actually it's the same hardware, but I'm moving books from Windoze to Ubuntu Studio).

Simply copy the entire Library Folder CONTENTS to the empty (there will be just 3 files. those will be safe to overwrite).
Do the same for the configuration folder.

Note:you may have to reset the Library location at the first start.
Assumes you leave the Windows file system on the drive (you might shrink it using PARTED) or you add a new drive (might not be a bad idea moving from old spinning rust)
SO it mostly breaks down to how fast you can write files on your new location

Is the cover image always "cover.jpg"?

I have never seen it different.

It makes the Details code easy when the cover image is the same (and in the books folder).

yeah, checking my library folder in Everything, it seems that every image file (except the extra data folders) is cover.jpg.

Do single-column colour rules always override all-columns ones, regardless of order?

Hi! I wish to rename many different tags (>1000), in one hyerarchical category, by adding an additional word to them.

E.g. Rename tags " Prize.[name of the prize].[year of the prize] " to " Prize.[name of the prize].[year of the prize].Winner " (where "name of the prize" and "year" are varaibles)

Is there a way to do it in bulk?

Thanks!

Yes. Line rules are always evaluated first. Any result is replaced by a successful column rule.

What are people using data files option for?

I was trying to figure out the use of the data file option on the Edit metadata form. If anyone is using it, could they let me know how so I could see if it would benefit my library.

Thanks, Jim

I mostly use it to store alternate book covers - Kovid actually added a context menu option in the cover downloader for this. I also sometimes use it to store older versions of fanfics after a heavy re-structuring.

I use it for different editions, different translations, alternate covers, long form reviews etc, original downloads etc, foreign language transcripts etc.

If it exists for a book, I display a folder icon in the book list. To open it I use the Open Book data folder action (via a custom shortcut - Alt+O). I add, change and delete files via file manager tools - drag-drop, cut and paste, etc and relevant editors.

After using *current search as an additional restriction, that search then appears in the restriction menu. How do I clear it?

There are always functions that I've never heard of.
What are you talking about, please?
