You seemed to have switched to October Daye from Incryptid? Any reason?

Just curious, I read the first October Daye a while back, and am making my way through the Incryptid series.

The October Daye books came up on a random choice from my TBR, and I'm enjoying them. I'll get back to Incryptid sometime.

600+ TBR makes the next choice hard unless it's the next in a series or a random choice. At least for me.

Yeah, I know the feeling! Though, FWIW, I quite enjoy the October Daye books but somehow couldn't get in to the Incryptid series. Though I have a couple of them in my TBR to circle back and try again when I run out of other things to read. Yeah, like THAT's going to happen any time soon.

Unluck Undead by Yoshifumi Tozuka

It's about two characters. One has devastating unluck where anyone who touches her body quickly dies. The other literally can't be killed and is looking for a way to die, and he hopes that she is the answer to his prayers.

I'm currently reading No Time Like the Past by Jodi Taylor. It's the 5th book in the Chronicles of St Mary's series. There are also a lot of short stores/novellas intersperced with the novels. It's an excellent series.

I've finished the above book and it was very good.

Not I'm reading At Childhood's End by Sophie Aldred. It's a Doctor Who book featuring ACE and the 13th Dcotor. Sophie was the 7th Doctor's companion.

“The Menace of the Machine” is another of the excellent volumes in Mike Ashley’s British Library of Science Fiction Classics. In this volume he concentrates on the AI as a theme in Science fiction. It follows the usual pattern of an interesting introduction followed by the progenitors of science fiction and a selection of Golden Age stories. Each individual entry also has its own introduction. The early entries such as “Moxon’s Master” by Ambrose Bierce and E. M. Forester’s “The Machine Stops” remain effective. The “Golden Age” selections are very good—especially “Two-Handed Engine” by C. L. Moore and Henry Kuttner.

This is an enjoyable book and quite inexpensive to buy (you can read it for free with Kindle Unlimited but many might like to have it for their own).

Then I read A Red-Rose Chain, Pocket Apocalypse, and Once Broken Faith all by Seannan McGuire.

Two October Daye and one INcryptid. All very enjoyable.

And now I'm reading Scottish Folk Tales of Coast and Sea by Tom Muir. An impluse purchase.

Which was OK. Very plainly told folk tales.

Next up: A re-read for a book group: The Crossing Places by Elly Griffiths. The first in her Dr Ruth Galloway series.
