Problem with fractional scaling
I'm running GNOME with fractional scaling (150%) on a HiDPI display. The Calibre UI looks very good here, except the ebook-viewer. It opens ebooks initially too small (not fitting the the window size) which can be fixed my resizing the window slightly. But besides that, the fonts (both, of the e-book and the viewer-ui) look coarse and washed-out.
With a scaling of 100% or 200%, everything looks ok. Is there anything I can do about it? I wonder why it happens only in ebook-viewer. (Running the official binary install (calibre 7.3) on Fedora Linux 39) Last edited by beedaddy; 01-19-2024 at 02:49 AM. |

I use KDE rather than GNOME, but I had a similar problem. Setting the environment varaible
Code:
QT_SCALE_FACTOR_ROUNDING_POLICY=RoundPreferFloor |

Hello,
Thank you for this forum ! I'm using ebook-viewer (v.5.37 - 02-2022) on an ubuntu-linux laptop and I don't know how to change the font size. Is this possible? |

The settings menus are under the book. You can tick the setting to pin the toolbar while reading. Why so old a Calibre? Is your laptop 32bit? |

It can be difficult to support an old version of calibre especially if any of the settings you'd need to adjust have changed in since then. So it's best to keep updated if you can.

Thank you very much for your quick and valuable advice!
I'm using this old version of calibre because this laptop is my work laptop with a safe and old ubuntu LongTermSupport version. So I will try to install a more recent version of calibre (on this old ubuntu). Have a nice day! F. |

The Ctrl+F11 key sequence will hide/show the toolbar, by default it has the icons to change font size.
