Going to Paperwhite Signature from Oasis
My Oasis is five years old. I find the battery does not last as long as I would like it to. This is quite frustrating as I hate being all ready to read and having the kindle indicate that the battery needs a charge to proceed.
I am considering replacing it with the Paperwhite Signature. Do you think I would get longer battery life that way? The charging stand would make me more likely to charge between uses. The one thing that is holding me back is that I really like the physical buttons on the Oasis. Will I get used to the change easily? |

Have you considered a battery change on the Oasis?

When my Voyage died I didn't want to spend the money on the Oasis so I went with the Paperwhite 4. I could not get used to not having buttons. I eventually decided to get the Oasis. When BN came out with the Glowlight 4 Plus with the flush screen and buttons on both sides, I jumped on it. I like it a lot even though I don't buy books from BN. It is currently my reader of choice.

I love physical buttons (have several Voyages) but have been pleased with the responsiveness of the SE. While I didn't mind charging with a cord, I do like the wireless charging. It's pretty fast - fully charged in 3-4 hours.

A 3 to 4 hours is about x4 slower than some current cabled ereaders. It's actually inductive, not wireless as in radio, inefficient and still needs a psu and cord you might forget to unplug, so an increased fire risk.

You might want to take a look at the new Boox Color Go 7. Physically it’s a close clone of the Oasis. Uses a Kindle app, and is not quite as immediately responsive as Kindles. But if I didn’t already have 2 Oasis’s, I’d buy one. Plus you can add other ebook apps, and read books borrowed via Everand and Libby. And you can use a phone hotspot to download books when WiFi isn’t an option.

Please let us know how it goes - I am in the same boat as you and have been hesitant to buy the PW SE due to lack of buttons. I am considering just getting one and seeing how I fare with it, and making up my mind after a few weeks.

I’ve started using the new Paperwhite SE I bought instead of my old Oasis and to be honest I am really liking the new device and am not missing the page turn buttons at all. I’m really pleased with my purchase. |

The battery life even of a new Oasis always has been terrible (I'm not referring to the first iteration with the extra battery pack).
When I switched to a Paperwhite (Signature Edition) I was so happy to get back the same weeks long battery life I had on my deceased Voyage. |

I'm thinking of doing the same thing as there is an additional discount of 10% for primer week this week plus the 20% and the trade in of 50 dollars. but will probably just go for the standard kindle PW, not the signature. What are the differences? I saw extra LED's but not much else.

The Signature adds wireless charging, double the storage, auto-brightness (same LEDs), and doesn't have lockscreen ads.
